Everybody’s okay.

Got t-boned @ a 4-way stop this evening. The Grand Cherokee just didn’t see me in his A pillar he said. Hit the rear drivers door, deflated the rear tire, not sure of rim damage as it was dark. Seemed like he was accelerating from the stop pretty hard, might just have been my shock. Smacked it pretty good.

Police came quick, did all that. Was able to get the spare on fine to drive it home. One bolt is a little sticky.

I’d just spent the day adding Spidertrax, doing a solid job molding the flap & liner real smoothly. Was going to post pics of that tomorrow. Feeling proud- shined it all up and headed out for an evening milk run & now this.

Guess I’d ask for any pointers on the repairs/process. What to watch out for. I’ll post some pics in the morning. The drivers door rear to rear wheel got pretty messed up, not sure about the frame yet. I was thinking I’d take it to the dealer. Rhode Island or Mass.

Just me and the other driver. Both okay. Thanks 🙏🏻 & Amen.

Glad you're Ok. Post some pics. Based on the description the frame might be Ok. Rear suspension will need checking.

Even a minor fender bender can really tilt your grey matter for a bit. I think it is not so much what happens, but more that it is a reminder of how little we actually control.

Good that everybody is ok, and if I were you, I’d not think about the truck too much. Let your nerves settle.

You have insurance and you drive a really robust vehicle. Sounds like no big deal once the stress wears off. After that, the best thing is to find the most knowledgeable repair shop for your truck. Find out what shop the closest Lexus dealer uses. That’s usually a decent option.

pics added. A nights sleep sure helps. Looks better than it felt. A lot of work for somebody. surprised not a crack in the glass on that rear drivers door.

Pinging the Lexus dealer for their shop sounds like a good approach. Thanks.

Glad everyone is ok! The LC will come out of this. It appears to be 2 doors and rear quarter? The lower rocker looks ok, can’t really see. Whatever route you take, do NOT go cheap on the body shop. Find the best body shop around.

I would definitely ask Lexus, but you can also ask around who does even higher end repairs like Ferrari/Porsche/etc for those dealers.

At least in my city it is a shop that has a small wait but will gladly work on LX/cruiser and you can bet your ass the attention to detail is as good as it gets.

It it helps ease your mind, these things are pretty tough and can be brought back from the dead.

I was enjoying the pristine babied phase.

Opticoat, Xpel, Woolwax. Jowett, 5k self changes, and way too many hand washes.. ...this might have been the most pampered HE out there. Not their purpose I know…just was taking my time to get there enjoying the “new” phase.

It seems to have taken the hit pretty well in the frame. Rear door will need some love. Maybe in this particular case even the spacer helped take that rear portion of the hit into the wheel/tire/ axle 1.25 inches sooner…if that’s good.

I suspect I’ll feel warm and fuzzy when it comes out of the shop. Appreciate all the MUD support.

Glad you’re ok, that doesnt look that bad at all. Except for the inconvenience of it all, looks like it should be as good as new.

Cannot help much on the recommendation but if you were hit hard enough to deflate the tire I would have had the rig towed. Of course then the question is where?

Though a 4-way stop I am curious, was the other driver issued a citation? Given where you were hit you were obviously on the right and well through the intersection.

I don’t believe he was issued one, not sure. He indeed stopped. That’s why I went. He just didn’t see me at all somehow through his A pillar he said.

Looks good.
I’m assuming this will appear on your CarFax report. Title might get branded also…either of these will reduce the value of your cruiser upon resale.
Have you looked into claiming “diminished value” from the other drivers insurance company?
Anyway, glad it’s back on the road.
good luck

Already shows on carfax.

On diminished value- Not paid yet, while there’s some clean carfax sales as comps nice and local. There’s not much on “minor damage” (airbags didn’t deploy)- cars. So I need to get a couple offers, which I will. Not planning on selling it though. Know the process though & formula. It’ll be worth it. But likely only $4300 or so.- okay for a bit of admin work.
