We have decided to sell my 1968 FJ40. This 40 was bought about 6 yrs ago and was pretty much rust free when I started. It has gone through a couple phases and builds and I finally have it all where I wanted it. Life has took some changes and we just won't be able to use it much. It was torn down to the tub and all what little rust was there was fixed and the inside was sprayed with Rhino lining so It can get wet even though it is always garaged if possible. I also have a soft top that is in good shape with a set of 74 hard doors that are painted to match. The window regulators are stripped out due to the new felt in the window channels. The hard top is in pieces and it has been sand blasted. You would have to find some parts if you wnated it back together. I have a custom made bikini top for the summer. Body
-99% rust free
Was painted with a single stage Limco paint with a flattening agent and is stock dune Beige. The paint is not perfect and has some dings and scratches from the trails and a small dent in front fender.
-front fenders where trimmed down 3” to give it the 40 look but out of the way rocks
-Budbuilt corners in the rear to help protect side with 4” LED tail light recessed. They were not installed to cover rust and can be taken off to clean underneath. The inside of corners are coated with POR-15 and outside is sprayed with a satin black so they can be touched up if needed.
-metal tech family age, shoulder belts in the front and harnesses in the back for the kids
-metal tech nose guard with stinger that holds and Warn 8000 winch. Guard and stinger can be taken off.
-Auto meter gauges with Fuel, MPH, Tach, Oil, Temp. It has 4 small LED’s cut in the instrument panel for the turn signals, check engine light and power to ignition light
-IDIDIT steering colum
Drivetrain
-1988 TBI 305
-Griffin 4 core radiator with heavy duty clutch and 7 blade fan
-SM465 that was rebuild when started about 5000 miles
-Marlin 2.28 Toybox
-rebuilt 82 Toy split case
-Howell fuel injection wiring harness
-Howell fuel pump, with the stock 40 tank with return line brazed in, never had a fuel issue
-new 12 circuit wiring harness through whole rig and done right so no wiring gremlins
-custom exhaust built by local muffler shop, it is high and tight so no rocks hit it
-Frame is as clean as it can be with no rust and sprayed with undercoating
- Proffits SOA kit with stock 60 series springs with a long AAL to keep some arch and a single spring removed to help flex
-Fj60 F/R axles all gone through with 4.88’s and a Lockrite in the front , Detroit in the rear,diff protection
-Proffits high steer with ARP studs
-Redneck Ram hydro assist with rebuilt steering gear with about 100 miles on it
- Bilstein 14” shocks in the front with Ford towers and 12” Bilsteins in the rear
-37” Pitbull radial Rockers with some trail scares but still like new with 2.5 BS soft 8 rock monster wheels that give the 40 a great stance and stable on the trail.
I am no car salesman just trying to be as honest as I can be and pass on a great running and looking 40. I am sure I have forgotten a ton of stuff. The 40 is all pretty much brand new in the last 3 years and has only been on a hand full of trail runs but has always got me home. I drive this back and forth to work sometimes and drives great down the road at 65 with no wondering.
