How bout swing down from the pintle? Kind of like the 1st pic but built more like the CBI version. I was looking into doing something like this but I just dont have the time.

wouldn't that be a lot of weight to pivot up and down?

Depends on the size of the tire of course but I dont think it would be a problem. Down or swing out. This would be a great option for the guys that dont want all the weight of swing out bumper. It would be completely removable too.

Friend built that style (swing down) for my 80 that just goes in the receiver. Works well and have wheeled pretty hard with it. The weight isnt bad, no worse than tossing the spare in the back. 315.

Id like to see something exactly like this for my 33" spare that would allow me to open the hatch without moving it out of the way if possible.

Not to derail the thread but I will take some pics and post here later tonight of what mine looks like. Not pretty, not fancy, get the job done.

Middle of the state basically. I'm in the beginning stages of the tire carrier. I think this could be a really nice piece of gear for our trucks.

Got my wheels spinning on ordering one. Cut out around the sun roof, sides all the way around. Lighting "hoop" in the front like the inti racks. Mesh floor on the bottom like an arb, but completely open around sunroof. Thoughts?
