I was surprised when I asked my Toyota dealer about a brush guard for my FZJ80 and he said there wasn't one. He was surprised too.

I have a new factory bumper, but would like to have a brush guard to install lights on etc. Any ideas?

Brush gaurds are made by Maink(?) you can usually see them onebay or other parts places.

I would recommend against a Brush Gaurd. They have the nickname damage multipliers. The wings that extend out either side when they hit something will cause more damage to your vehicle then if they were not there.

You will notice that most of us here have ARB or Slee front bumpers. The ARB ends are supported and welded to te bumper and are solid steele so they would not cause more damage. In fact, my rig was hit front on while stopped and experianced no damage. If that had been a brush gaurd, well . . . .

I've got a brush gaurd off my 97' I removed to install an ARB if you are interested. As you will find out, the ARB etc. are much more stout, but some dont need that much. Anyhow, shoot me a PM if interested, I'm in Bellingham,WA

Romer, you're right, I had noticed that most have ARB & Slee bumpers and I will someday, especially after looking at your pictures of the "wreck"!

I really just need some additional lighting as my lights are screwed up and will not adjust correctly... and I have this perfectly good stock bumper.

Thanks,

Holland
