Went on an impromptu snow run up to the Jemez with some buddies from work today. Took 376 to 608... didn't make it thru the stream crossing - broken birfield. winched the truck out of the stream and headed home. More later when I pull it apart...

Cool. Never a better time than now for an upgrade. Also, get Marlin's inner axle seals.

Doh! At least you guys could get it out. Busted birf is way more of a drag in my fulltime, very it was nice to just unlock and go to 2wd and haul tail home.

X2 on marlin inners.

Swypo'd from my droid using IH8MUD

10 months later... its alive! Axles and birfs upgraded to Bobby long's 30 spline, and of course marlin inner seals.
In the river!

One exploded and the other one cracked!

Beefy!

Install went smoothly, the 70 series,or at least this one, has the same size axles as the 40 series - so all that needed to be ordered was Bobby's axle set with the long side having long splines. :) There was some collateral damage: spindle bushing, inner seals and some disfigured metal. All cleaned up and new or replacement parts went in. Thanks Beno for the spindles - worked perfectly!

nice dude. Let's go on a road trip tomorrow, if you're not working!

Bummer, could have made you a deal on the long side splined shaft if I knew. I have Josh's shaft in my garage, but he decided to go with a 60 housing instead for his cable lockers. I guess now that he's in town, I should let it take up space in his garage instead of mine. :-)

I forgot about that. I'll swap you garage space: your engine hoist for my long field :-) of course, if you want to leave the pop rocket in my garage to save you some space....
