Broke caliper bolts, now what?

The caliper is somewhat of a fail-safe if wheel bearing nut fell off. It will hold wheel hub on axle. It's kind of locks rotor disk in which is attached to wheel hub.

Sensors can ( and probably should) stay in the knuckle, just disconnect the ABS at the fender and brackets then zip tie to the knuckle.

You can bend the black brake dust shield and just get puller on all ball joints. Pull off very heavy steering knuckle assemble! Then replace black dust shield!

had the same problem. no extractor worked for me so i ended up carefully drilling it out with a cobalt drill bit .

WOW the two bolts holding on caliber are hard to bust. Not something I've dealt with, but assume they're not only corrosion issue with knuckle bolts & speed sensors. Interesting this may be why 200 series FSM calls them non re-usable. I feel for the rigs in the rust belt, PITA!

If overall condition of knuckle is bad. I'd be inclined to replace steering knuckle.
Found a yard in southern VA that sent me the whole assembly (knuckle, hub, etc) for $105 shipped, in really good shape, paint on the knuckle was still kind of shiny! Worth every penny. Ended up replacing the boots on the upper and lower ball joint, both wheel bearings, rotors, pads, calipers. Seems to drive great so far.
