Anybody have a suggestion for bringing batteries back from the dead? I think my slow drain on it just brought it down to absolutely zero. It's not terribly old, but is out of warranty, so I'd rather not have to buy a new one yet.

I always have good luck putting on a slow charger. Having said that I did find out that the Optima batteries once dead, won't come back to life.

This may be a much more difficult question than I can comprehend, but here is what I did on a couple batteries last year:

  • I have a 12v Battery Tender Plus - OK for car batteries that use gel. I just stick it on there and let it fully charge the battery til light shows a green light.
  • I then test the battery under load by doing something like this guy here: looking for 9.5v at the bottom point.

Of course the older battery I did that with last winter was fully dead this winter, but we got by another year :)
