FJ40 MNTCRZR
SILVER Star
Thought I start a thread of my bringing back my Fathers truck that I inherited.
History: We are the third owners of the truck, it was purchased new by a farmer to move farm equipment around his property. A family friend who was also a UPS driver kept seeing the truck and inquired about buying it, farmer sold it. The truck had two steel bumpers with hitches on both ends, a high torque 230 inline 6 and was as stock as stock could be.
Jack was the second owner who was our family friend, my dad bought it from Jack over 40 years ago. Jack painted it white and a few other things.
Fast forward: My father parked the truck in the garage and here it sat for over 36 years… he said the transmission was out.
My Father was going to fix it up and never did, so life goes way too fast and I ended up losing my father in April. So I had his C10 and a 1929 Model A Streetrod. I sold the model A and decided to keep the C10.
So I had the C10 that has been sitting for at least 36 years with fuel etc …
I backed it outa the garage, siphoned the fuel out and installed a new battery and fresh fuel… and she’s ALIVE … Now will she move. I was informed that these column shifters could be sticky so a little WD and it was shifting so I guess the transmission was good.
So I started the road to restore her.
So far I’ve had it converted to 5 lug, added disc brakes, complete service of all fluids etc .. added new wheel and tires and she runs like a top.
Updated the interior and installed a classic car stereo.
2/4” Drop.
New Exhaust.
I’ve decided that I wanted to do a motor upgrade and also add A/C soo down that rabbit hole I’ve gone. I ordered Vintage Air for her and a 383 Stroker motor from Smeding Performance which should be here mid December.
I’ve been having fun with her and who knows where I’ll take it next.
Ill try and update this as I go forward.. love seeing all the old trucks come back to life… here’s how she sits now.
