Hey Everyone-

I am new to posting here, but have used this forum to research a number of things & am hoping the wealth of knowledge here can help me out.

I was driving to work this morning and my LC100 did something that has never happened, and scared the crap out of me!

Here is the situation (let me know if I am missing any info).

1. Highway speed, roughly 60mph
2. Slight right turn on an overpass
3. Lightly damp road
4. No gravel that I know of

Truck
1. No mods (lift, oversize tires etc....) all factory (for now)
2. Got the truck a year ago used
3. 150xxx mi.
4. Tires are on their last leg but by no means bald

Issue
1. Beeping from dash
2. NO warning lights (but there may be a bulb out)
3. During the turn the truck started braking (I think)
a. It almost felt like the VSC in my old GS430, but much more severe

Has anyone heard of this happening? If this is the VSC kicking in should it be activating on the highway?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide (sorry I am not very knowledgeable with cars!)

I had a similar thing happen when I came in too hot on a freeway transition ramp. About 60, sweeping right turn. Dash lights, sounds , brakes. I believe the TRAC light was flashing, but dont quote me on that. Pretty sure it was VSC/traction control taking over.

Yeah, sounds like a tire lost some traction. Whenever mine beeps I know I'm having fun:)

It happened to me today in my 2000. Damp road but certainly not slick, 60mph on the hwy going straight on good rubber. The "skid" light I'll call it, was on and beeping. This happened once before on a dry road but without the braking I had today.

I slowed to 40 and got off at the next exit. On the off ramp the beeping and skid light stopped.

I've also had intermittent VSC TRAC/TRAC OFF lights come and off for a few weeks with no identifiable pattern. I assume there is a relation. I don't know anything about this issue but expect it will cost some dealer time and hefty labor rates.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

If this issues has repeated with no discernible road issue or hard braking. Have checked-out ASAP. It may help to reset all systems by disconnecting battery for 30 minutes, but that's just a guess based on what a Dealer shop did (didn't work).

A few things you can check before throwing money at a dealer for vsc issues.

Tire pressures, condition of tires
Make sure wheel sensors are clean and free of swarf, they are magnetic and foreign metal can interfere with the signal. Check abs rings for foreign objects
Check for fault codes, in all ecu's
Calibrate the yaw sensor, this should be done after suspension alterations or maintanence work on some vehicles.
Check that the steering wheel is straight as this is for the angle sensor.
Check the brakes make sure there is no binding

Toyota are probably aware of this as any complaint against a safety feature would of raised a ticket with there tech department at some point.
If Toyota tech stream can read live data then you could read the wheels sensors, yaw sensor and steering wheel angle sensor whilst driving to see if the are any irregularities.
Not sure if this system would use data from the ahc system so removing it may cause issues, if this was the case then surely it is configurable as some vehicles come with standard suspension and some don't.

I think I can tackle most on this list especially the visual inspections once I figure out how to locate these components. Thanks
