Brake Rotors...slotted? Cross drilled?

What about cryogenic frozen rotors?

I don't see any reason to spend the money on high performance rotors. Maybe on a sports car.

Slotted. It eliminates brake fade completely, helps cool the brake rotors a bit, shortens stopping distance (mostly because of the elimination of brake fade), and prevents your pads from forming a layer of glaze. I'd use 'em with metal based pads though, because they will wear through softer pads pretty fast. I have slotted on all four corners of my 62 and it'll stop on a dime.

Avoid cross drilled like the plague. They like to form hotspots, which will lead to warping, cracks, and catastrophic failure (haven't seen it myself, but I've read about it). The holes also like to collect grit and grime from trails and will eat pads for a midnight snack.

I replaced mine with DBA 4000 from Man a free they are Cross drilled and after a year now it's stoping perfectly. They were a little pricey at $209 a piece the quality is top on them. good luck.

I have the slotted DBAs on my 80 and I like them. They have about 50k miles and look great. Stops well with 100 series pads.

My 60 and my 40 have the cheap "Tru Stop" rotors from Napa (like $23 each) and after 2 years on the 60 and 3 on the 40, they are OK. I am very careful with lug nut torque, my install was careful, and my driving style does not require a lot of hard braking. Not warped yet. Excellent bang for buck.

Since I drive the 60 every day, the next rotors it gets will be OEM from Cruiserdan, but the day I last got into the knuckles was a Saturday and I needed what they had that day, so the cheap Tru-Stops was it. I use Toyota OEM pads which are boring but work great.

The only thing I can say about the cheap rotors is that they seem to rust on the edge quicker than OEM. They are not as good, but for $23 vs $80 I'm ok with it.

my cruisers on 35's and ill probally be going bigger soon so brakes will be on my to do list. what is a good source for slotted disks and what $ do they cost. as well is there a better extreme duty brake pad you can get? i guess i might want to look into disks in the rear eventually too. any ideas on whats involved with that?

Ok, but do the slots cause unusually wear on the pads?

So far I haven't seen any more wear than with normal rotors. I use Hawk Performance "ferro-carbon" pads though, because they stop quicker and are supposed to last longer than normal pads (which are, what, ceramic now?).

So you guys don't have any issues regarding dirt or mud sticking in the slots?

Nothing here. They've always stayed clean pretty well on my rig.
