recentley rebuilt my power brake booster, and thought that would correct the problem. But it didn't, my brakes are very had to push, and hardly any brake to stop with. I have disc in the front and drums in the rear. running 37" tires. Still have some pads left on the discs, not sure about the drums.

Any sugggestions on what could be the possible cause, and what should be done to fix this problem? All suggestions will greatly be appreciated.

Also any FJ40 owners in the Nashville, TN area? Thanks.

With the truck running (vacuum on the booster), measure your brake pressure at the MC, front calipers and rear wheel cylinders. Anything less than say 1300 psi in the front and 1000 psi in the rear under a full panic-stop push is indicative of an inoperable booster. You can buy a universal kit to do this from SSBC for ~$50 but will require some fitting/plumbing/creativity.

If this checks out you could have any number of things going on such as glazed bads/rotors, seized caliper piston(s)/wheel cyclinders, improperly sized MC bore, .........................
