This is what I made to clear the rib and adapt a GM master 2-bolt to the 3-bolt holes in the firewall.....

Nice. that is much cleaner than when i ran my corvette m/c.

Just FWIW the change for me from a manual m/c to my boosted one was probably 1 of the better upgrades I have done in recent years. I was never comfortable with that corvette m/c (could never hold the cruiser when i needed it), but you might like it.

Good Luck

Just guessing by your sig line, but you probably run a SBC? If so, then no problems with interference with the carb, like on a F/2F. That is my problem. Either cut the rib and run a smaller-than-OEM(diameter) booster(to clear the clutch MC), or replace that side of the firewall with a later piece. 'Cause if I add a booster, I'm into the carb.:frown:

F*cked if you do, F*cked if you don't......:meh:

Hoping the 7/8" master will increase pressure and if not, re-drill the pedal lever.

Yeah, i have never run the 2F. WHen i bought mine it was toasted, so i put in my 350 that i had. Anyways, i sent you a PM.

Good luck!

Sorry to say that the master is still in the box........I'm a looser with lots of projects and no spark:frown:
I'll report when it is installed......

Ed

Oh you are no loser tooth boy; Not like there was nothing going on in your life since July 08.

You know, if the carburetor is in the way, I think I have a fix for that bud....

GM/streetrod or Jap brake booster/master would clear it, no problem.

You mean put the engine on a stand so the master will clear the carb? BRILLIANT!!!;)

I only wish. Is that the RamJet I got to drive or yet another? That was in May '07? and my a****** has just now turned right side out.

It is another one...

Let me know...

I need that RamJet.....and a trail beater to put it in:crybaby: I have a line on a really nice FJ60 with no rust, no title and a bad motor:hhmm:
Would it play nice with a NV4500?

i installed disc brakes on several fj40s using tsm kits and they recomended at least the 1" bore master .i used the stock 75 master with 1" bore and everyone seems happy.also did one with a mini booster and master and it also works well .most of these trucks are street driven with some trail riding.my 70 was done about 10 years ago and still works well and has been hammerd since ive owned it good luck

i know this has been going on awhile. But I wouldn't spend that much. Call me a cheapie, but 25 bucks and a liter of Dot3, upgraded me to power brakes on my 63 FJ45.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj45-owners-club/246134-1963-fj45l-found-restoration-info-thread-5.html

scroll down a bit.

Junk yard booster/master - 10 dollars
3 brakes lines from autozone - 15 dollars
1 liter of dot 3 from the shelf - who knows
Power brakes on a 63 cruiser - awesome (and priceless I guess).

Cheers - Dallas

FYI, no cutting, drilling, etc.. on this setup.

Wow! Another option opens up!!! '97 geo metro, eh? Any idea what years that mc was used? Also, how did you bolt it to the firewall? A homemade adapter? I wonder how it would do with disc setups? Last question. Do you really need the proportioning valve from the metro or can you go with any proportioning valve. IIRC, any should be okay.

Thanks! ty

Ed....
I know this is bringing an old thread way back from the dead......but.....did you ever bolt in the 7/8 master cylinder? How were the brakes? Has anyone else come up with a good, unboosted option for the early (with rib) trucks??

KP, I left that new master on the bench, but so far it has not bled itself or installed itself. Brakes are working just fine and I have been enjoying the cruiser instead of working on it. I'm a lazy bastid.
I do have plans for a new carb, new radiator, master, dashman box and windshield frame........just need a roundtuit;)
