Folks,

Knee deep in getting a piston swapped. Caliper reading of all bores were 3.670” which seems stock.

Pistons in block have a 0.05 stamped on it. Pulling piston out now and will mic it and share. Anyone know if stamp on piston means 0.05 oversize?

@FJ40Jim?
@landcrusher909?
@3_puppies?

CD, that’s what it would mean on any (other) piston I’ve ever seen, but I have no 2F-specific piston experience.

Found the culprit

That’ll do it - looks like a compression ring broke, and a little piece of it wouldn’t stay in the land, and tore up the piston.

pistons are repco 2648 on piston casting

Piston diameter is 3.665”…seems like it is standard bore

Looking at repco piston designations…STD is standard bore. The 0.04 designation is accounting for head decking

All my pistons have STD designation
