I just bought a set of 4 runner S13WB calipers to put on my FJ62. The store had only the caliper and pads in stock separately instead of "loaded" calipers. The calipers came with rods and spring clips. My question is: am I missing any parts by buying the calipers and pads separately? Are there shims or other small parts that I'll need? Any advice is appreciated.

You need the caliper, the pins that hold in the pads, the pads themselves, a wire clip that holds the pins in, and another wire doohickey called an anti-rattle clip.

I think both wire things can he had at NAPA if you're missing them.

There are no shims that I'm aware of. I've never seen shims on disc brakes. They are self-adjusting.

There should be a set of shims behind the pads. All of my calipers have them.

i think you're actually better off buying the pads separately. a lot of loaded calipers come with cheap pads...go OE.

Finally got the calipers on last weekend. What an improvement!

I ended up going with Wagner ceramic pads. So far no noise whatsoever from not using shims.

Thanks for the advice guys.
