My left front caliper had badly sticking pistons on one side. In fact, the boots were torn and crusty on both calipers, so it was time to do something. They had performed well for 240K miles, after all!
Initially planned to rebuild them, but heard good things from people I trust about NAPA Eclipse rebuilt calipers.
Decided to get one and take a look. After removing the pistons and taking a good look I was impressed:
- New pistons, seals, and boots
- Bores were honed
- Caliper body nicely cleaned up and enamelled
- New pins and spring clips included

Now have these on the front, both sides. Nice quality reman work and hard to beat for the price - $65.99 + $55 core charge for LC & LX 1998 - 2002.

WARNING: Make sure you are buying Napa Eclipse. They have others.

Great info, thanks for posting.
Good price too...I haven't priced other calipers, but they were $100+ for my old Tacoma for el cheapo's.

$100/side for my Autozone calipers a month ago, that is for an '03.

$325 each for 100 series fronts from Toyota.

I'm betting this is for new calipers. I know for the 80-series, Toyota had reman units. My local dealer couldn't find the part number for the reman, but CDan knew them and I ordered from him. Pricing was a fraction of the new calipers.

Does anyone know if there are Toyota Reman 100-series calipers, and if so, retail pricing and part numbers? This would be good info to add to the forum for the future.

47730-60090-84: $215.38
47750-60090-84: $215.38

These are for 8/2002 til EOP.

47730-60080-84: $272.70
47750-60080-84: $272.70

These are for 1/1998-9/2002.

$100 core charge on each of the above.

Thanks Beno !

Not as much of a price difference in New vs. Toyota Reman as I remember for the 80. Although, after a 25% discount is applied (at your favorite dealership):

47730-60090-84 is about $165

47730-60080-84 is about $205

Still a long way from $66 for the Napa Eclipse. Decisions, decisions......

FWIW, I'm not a fan of off brand parts. Was fully pre prepared to take the first one back after taking it apart to see what kind of rebuild job had been done. Bottom line was that it was nicely done (especially the bore honing that is hard to do properly without the right setup). I'm happy with them.

Good point. I've actually been significantly unhappy with the ADVICS folks who are remanning these units.

My front left caliper is sticking, pad on one side worn all the way down. I am considering rebuilding the existing caliper, but the napa caliper sounds tempting. Is it best to replace both sides at once, or can I just do one as long as the other is working?

Thanks Beno !

I know it's an old thread but, are these reman calipers for the 1996 80? I'm not sure but the 1991-1993 (i think) are different (smaller)? Been trying to find info on this.

SE3185 is not showing compatibility with my 2002 LX (with 01 build year)

Can anyone confirm it will fit? The SE3186 shows it fits.

Looking to replace calipers with NAPA rebuilds on my 1999 LX470 (02/99) build date.

The links in the initial post show as not compatible with ‘99 LX470 when vehicle listed in garage.
CAL SE3186
CAL SE3185

It is showing the following 2 front calipers as compatible:

ADC 1721XB - Front Left

ADC 1721XA - Front Right

It looks like the difference is floating vs fixed.

Thank you for your help!

Those are both fixed calipers, but the description doesn't say which one is which (R/L). Interestingly, it also says I can't get them, but I can get these (which are full floating):

However, these aren't the Eclipse remans the OP was referring to, they're Advance. Remans from Toyota run about $100 extra, each side.

FWIW, the '98-'02 all use the same caliper.

I meant the previous post description. I know which one my is ;)

any body have experience with these Napa adaptive one calipers? I need to replace a rear and OEM is quite a bit more expensive

Update from anyone using the Napa Adaptive? I know Eclipse were a recommended favorite but since they arent available anymore and the Adpatives seem to have replaced them I'm wondering if Adaptives are just as good? Havent seen much feedback about them.

That’s what I went with and no issues so far after ~4k miles.
