It will be interesting to see what ARB USA has to say or how they handle this. It's been a long time, but I had perpetual issues with the rear air locker in my FJ-62. Long story short, eventually I had to pull it and take it to ARB USA (they are reasonably local to me). They were fantastic to work with.

Short story- yes. I’ll try to get the thread updated.

Hey there @HDJdreams was wondering if you wouldn’t mind sharing what happened and how ARB responded? Am considering a set of these but this and a couple other stories on other forums have me concerned..

Were the other forums similar failures?

First I’ve heard of this kind of snap. Seen a number of Icon shocks snap…and repeated incidents of rear Icon control arms…includibg in person on trail group trucks.

I have run BPs harder and heavier than any I know of since they were released in about 2015, and never a hint of a break.

None of my above comments make it impossible…but if there is a known tendency of this…that would be news to this heavy forum user.

I am not sure what the upstream issue here was but probably not. Seen a number of reports of leaking after moderate use. I’m not sure if that could be related to use or installation or a faulty set of shocks.

I am late to the party but my BP 51's just got replaced from ARB never wheeled and have maybe 8k on them. Yesterday we got the new ones fitted but when taken off the lift it pissed fluid everywhere... then the shop had to uninstall what a mess... Truly disappointing and but at least ARB customer service is decent

I know this is very unrelated but are there rebuild kits for these?

As of a couple months ago ARB has not made rebuild kits available. I'd imagine they'd need to do a warranty replacement (or something along those lines) for anyone who truly needs a rebuild. Or, buy a new set assuming they're available.

Did it come unbolted from the top perch because the shock body angle outward is pretty extreme. Was just curious if maybe it came loose from the top, kicked itself out at a crazy angle, and when it went to compress at the awkward angle it just snapped the shaft?
