Since the 80s first came out, I loved their looks - but too much $. Drove one on a whim at a car lot. It drove like nothing else and realized I had to have one, especially since I could now afford one! Looked extensively, and found this '96 with excellent gray leather, 114K. It's not locked, but I know these rigs are very capable already. Yes, I need to lose the damage multiplier. Found the beginnings of rust near most of the 16 screw of factory rack. Decided to act and line-x instead of costly repaint. I removed the rack (one bugger nutsert), and Line-x prepared and sprayed for under $300. Now the rust is gone, and I've got a lifetime roof that will laugh at abuse. I think it looks pretty good up there. My old Yakima fits perfectly!

Next upgrades: Slee wire harness, JD HIRs, 285 A/Ts (light off-road for now), ARB front bumper, driving/fog lights (maybe IPF J-01 combos, or Hella Rallye 4000 CELIS). Light or other recommendations appreciated.

Next service: front axle rebuild.

Anyway, let the madness begin. I love it!

should have taken it all the way down the sides!! If you wheel it on tight trails, you will eventually.

Could you please let me know where did you get the Line-X done? I couldn't find a in Vancouver. Maybe I can drive down to WA since we're pretty close. Thanks.

Here's the address: 4215 Britton Rd, Bellingham, WA

Just google-map: line-x bellingham, wa - you'll see it.

They're actually on the Baker Highway just before you get to Britton (heading east, rt. side)

Nice heat sink ;)

Nah, would be in Louisiana....

looks good!

I agree with PScottBx, a totally black roof in the deep south would be very hot. That is why I went with the individual "stripes."

Yeah, I know! I was a little concerned about generating excess heat, but you're right, this is Washington - avg. annual temperature is 48.3 degrees. It rarely makes it into the 80-90s where I live. Average daytime high for our warmest month is about 70.

Still, might be a problem if I tour the SW in the summer! They can match color if desired, but I thought the black would be fine.

Hey CID,

That looks pretty cool. I like they way they tied the rack mount areas to the outside strips. Nice effect.

Did you do the flares too? If so, how do they clean up? I was thinking about doing those and the rocker panels too.

Most LineX franchises are willing to color match the linX to the paint.

Thanks! After Google it, I found couple dealers in great vancouver area. I'm going to compare the prices.:grinpimp:

man that looks sweeeeet!

I have the Champagne LX and I have been thinking about this for a few weeks. I am going to be Line-Xing my 60 in a few weeks so maybe I could do something similar.

Being in SoCal where today its 106º with like 10000% humidity, heat soak is a concern. So I am thinking about just color matching. But the black looks really nice.

NLXTACY,

Thanks. Yeah turned out great. Wish they had put a greater radius on the corners like we discussed, but still looks good. I think matching the width of the sunroof deflector created a clean line. Plus it leaves a nice white line above the windows along the length of the roof when view from the side.

Good luck with your line-x projects. Sorry about the heat! Whew!

That looks really nice and welcome to the club...and the clubhouse...

WC96LC,
Yes I did the flare area to cover the hole and I also did my rocker below the doors. After getting them real muddy they clean up fine, as long as you can get a tire brush on it or scrub real well with a rag and soap.
