Hey Fellas, Well as luck would have it, both my front seats are now non-operational :bang:. The passenger side went out about 2 years ago. I ordered the new gears and tried replacing the parts myself. Unfortunately, it didn't work out so well (user error) and the gear broke again. Luckily it broke in the far back position so I have dealt with it up until now.

My driver seat just recently stopped working too. The problem is it broke when I was moving it forward. So its a bit cramped driving now. I believe it is the plastic gear again. I tried moving it back, only to then kink the seat sideways because the left drive rail moved more than the right side :bang:.

I was hoping some of you guys might be able to recommend a upholstery shop that might be able to fix the seats and get them working properly again. I would try it again myself but would prefer to get it done right instead of the Jerry-rig job I would do :hillbilly:

Order the gears from Nakman and get 'er done. Would an upholstery shop do gear work??

I have to sympathize with you on the repair work. It's a PITA to get lined up properly and I f'ed up my first gear as well and had to do it over. Don't remember if they came in pairs or if I just ordered two gears to 'be on the safe side' knowing my penchant to mess things up!

Don't forget the little end plugs that tend to fall out causing this in the first place!

Good luck.

Thanks guys. Yes, I will order a couple sets of gears and end caps. I know regardless if I attempt it again myself or take it to a shop, I will need to get the parts. I may give it another go to see if I can fix it.

Is it one of those funky awkward jobs where you need an extra pair of hands to make it better? If so I would be willing to help. I'm sure there will be a time where I or another fellow mudder will need help with this repair. I've never had to do this, but I'm always willing to help and learn. Pics and documentation would help many. PM if I can be of any help.

This just happened to the land cruiser that my kids drive. Passenger has been broken since we bought it and the drivers side quit working today. Saw the end cap laying on the carpet. Time to order new gears and caps, thanks for posting the gamviti link!

I appreciate the offer! May just take you up on it. I am going to order the parts this weekend so, may try to fix on my next free weekend.

So, finally got around to fixing the seats today!! I downloaded the instructions from Gamiviti and got to work. Overall the process is more time consuming than difficult. The key to getting the seat set up right was ensuring the two main gears that move the seats are completely even. I believe that was my downfall the first time I attempted fixing the passenger seat.

I also picked up some new LED smoke tail lights and installed them today as well. I really like the way they turned out and the lights are much brighter than the stock tail lights.

Excellent timing, my passenger seat just went out on me. I appreciate your seat doing the same. :D

Would agree with your assessment about time and not difficulty. I didn't get my first attempt exactly even and destroyed one of my replacement gears. 2nd go around worked great. Take your time and it'll all work. Hasn't Tim upgraded the material on his gears as well? Super nice guy!

I ordered two caps and two gears today to do up the seats. Just to be sure, that will cover both front seats correct?

Mo - yes. Follow Tim's instructions and be very certain you have the seat lined up and straight or you'll grind the new gear up. Don't ask how I know this! A little dab of super glue on the cap will also be helpful

Excellent, thank you sir.
