Ok... i'll start by saying "Maybe i'm overthinking it," but the fact is modifying cars is a personal preference thing, and my personal preference is:

1) steel wheels
2) no spacers/adapters
3) Not the tundra steelies (don't like size or look)

of course, what i will likely end up with will force me to "give" on one of the above, but if i can avoid it, why not? and if it's avoidable, i'm sure this is the place to find someone that knows how to avoid it.

so my question is... if i can source some hubs from another vehicle with a different bolt pattern (say 6x5.5 like many other Yotas), will this work? in south Florida there are 100 wrecking yards where i can likely find a 6-lug Toyota to get the hubs off of... just a question of which, if any, will work?

thank you to the people who know far more than me. My instinct tells me that if it was doable, i would have found it in my hours of searching google, but my fingers are crossed that maybe i just missed something.

What about the Tundra spare steelies? They're 16" and are from looking at D-window wheels, is pretty close to what you're looking for. Around my area, they're $45-60 each at a salvage yard. These are on my wish list.

Edit: Yes, I realize these are 6 lugs, but the normal ones have the same bolt pattern as the LC/LX.

not a bad idea. what's the width? i assume theyr'e hard to find but i could source them if i needed to. They're still not these:

but not terrible.

It may just be my hangover, but I may be wrong (and now disappointed). It looks like the 5 lugs only come in an 18x8 size, not the 16x7

Interesting quest here. Don't think I've ever heard of this sort of preference for a specific style of steelie. I didn't even know about the "D-window term" until now. Neat.

Maybe this company could help out? Stockton Wheel - Products Heavy Duty - Military - Light Truck - Off Road

There are a lot of steel wheel 100's in other world areas, but maybe not your D-window preference.

If it really is your ultimate wheel preference (and not a budget-driven thing) then I'm sure you could find a custom wheel shop like Stockton in my link that would custom build something for you. Perhaps even out of aluminum, but in the steelie style so that it's a functional benefit instead of a detractor.

definitely not beholdent only to the "D Window" style but would just like something in the 16" size that appeals to me. I think you're right... another alternative i'm thinking is to get a set of 5 lug wheels and have them drilled in between the factory hols for the 5x150 pattern, though this could be dangerous if i can avoid it, so i'd like to still get an answer to my original question which may be easy, especially considering i can likey get junkyard hubs for far cheaper than even wheel adapters.

D windows are good looking wheels, I agree. I think you can buy 5x150 steel wheels from Australia - but the offsets are going to be 0 to -20 because they're for the 105 series cruisers with 80 width axles.

I'm not an axle guru but I don't think it's possible to change your front bolt pattern without major work. If you look at other 6x139 truck's hubs, the construction is fundamentally different - not to mention that they're all lighter vehicles with less heavy duty components:

And of course 80 series are solid axles. As far as the rear, you could pull the axle shafts, weld up the holes and re-drill. But then at that point if you're worried about filling and drilling wheels, you wouldn't want to do that to the axles. ha

All said and done, I would try Australia or get a custom set of wheels made.

Or, my personal favorite wheels - just buy some Stealth Custom Series F5 in black, 5x150 and call it a day at $800ish:

i'm very grateful for your response, and as serendipity would have it, i just got an email from US wheels that they're willing to drill some for the hundy community. i started a separate thread to see who might want a set. i hope it takes off!
