Unless you space your wheels out 1" or more...with the current stock offset, it already looks goofy, with fender flares, it would look goofier.

Also, fender flares love to rub paint, collect mud, then rust out the fenders.

Thanks for the reply. These are things I never thought of. Has anyone rolled the fenders to fit bigger tires or would that look goofy too? At some point it would be nice to put 35's on these rigs.

Joe Becal's Cancer Centre of America's LX570 Baja truck has 35" x 12.5" tires on it. They stick out about 3/4" to 1" with the TRD stock offset 17" rims. They cut about 1" from the front fender and also rolled them in order to stop rubbing (I think it would be on articulation).

Also...I know that Arctic trucks is using a 17" x 10"wide Hutchenson rim with about 30mm offset (instead of the stock 60mm). They have to cut the front fender to fit the wheels, but then add fender flares. I'm sure they would answer questions if you sent then an email.

My biggest concern after rolling and/or cutting would be to re-install the wheel well cladding. Not sure how to troubleshoot that easily, but I'm sure it could be done. I think once my rig hits 5 yrs old or about 100,000 miles I may play around with that a little. For now I am happy with the 33s and stock offset. It drives fast, and parks anywhere.

You have the Trd wheels if I remember correctly. Have you had a chance to weigh the stock rim against the TRD?

Has anyone bugged ICON about putting a suspension lift kit together? I emailed them and have not heard back. I also asked them why there not putting coil overs on the rear shocks.

I didn't weigh rim vs rim, but I did weigh my winter setup vs. summer.

Winter = 18" Stock Steelies (Tundra...same dimensions) with 275x70x18 Dunlop Maxx Traction MT = 92 lbs per wheel

Summer = 17" TRD Rims with 285x70x17 BFG ATs = 72 lbs per wheel

Also...

I'm sure that ICON will not put together a suspension kit other than front coilovers and rear shocks. There is just not a big enough U.S. market for the LC, and even less for lifted LCs. As much as you, me and the other ih8mudder loves to mod his/her LC, we are the oddity.

Wow, that is a big difference in weight. Have you noticed your mpg increase and power with the TRD's?

Way more power available with the TRD rims, but worse mileage because I'm using all that new power available to me.

I gave up on the whole mileage thing shortly after I bought the truck, it sucks too much to worry about. All in all you could spend thousands to save hundreds. Not worth it, just drive and enjoy.

Couldn't agree more. Loom forward to getting the trds in the near future. Great thing about 17"s, is the available tires
