Body/Tub weight

I am thinking of building a hoist in my garage rafters to lift the shell on my pickup as well as the hard top from my FJ. Down the road I will be doing a frame up restoration so the hoist should be able to lift the FJ body also.

Can anyone give me a ball park estimate of the weight of an FJ body? Mine is a 1971 model.

i remember some place a discussion of about 380-440....so as coolerman said 400 or so

Wow, and here I was trying to figure out how to support 1000 lbs

Now if only I didn't have a truss roof...

Naw, a couple of 2x10's across the width of the garage and resting on the truss lower chord will do fine.

x2 about 400lbs.. its about as much as the frame which also can be carried by two people

An empty tub with NOTHING attached to it is about 350lbs.

I can lift the tub by myself one side at a time, front or back. Or I can lift my entire tub by myself with a simple pully system (double).
