So, I was rear-ended today in my 2012 4Runner. No one was hurt but it's going to need to be fixed. It's my baby (other than my FJ40) and I want it fixed right, back to pre-accident condition. The rear hatch was pushed in, tail light broken and the bumper cover trashed. The Gobi ladder on the back seemed to protect the drivers side well... very stout, only missing powder coat and some scratches. Frame seems un-scathed. Fortunately the other guy had insurance and he wasn't hurt either. However, his Chevy won't be able to drive away... pics to follow.

My insurance company has a pretty long list of pre-authorized shops, Camelback Toyota included :)

Thoughts???

Thank you,

Mike

I was in a similar accident but with less damage while heading to CBT for mechanical repairs... CBT fixed my rear bumper on the truck I was driving and like always did a great job.

Sorry to see the accident. Glad you are okay.

That sucks.

Glad to know that no one was hurt.

indeed glad no one was seriously hurt. That looks like just enough damage to be concerned with getting it done right and as you already know, you can't go wrong with CBT. My body shop sources are shade tree guys good for resprays and fenders changes etc, but not near good enough for what you need.

Glad no one was hurt, guessing you will be sore tomorrow. I'm sure your going to want OEM parts since those looked like they are beyond repair. CBT sounds like a good choice to be sure your getting a good job and OEM parts. Because you were tail ended I would assume the other driver was at fault. Be sure you check into diminished value. This is probably going to showd up on your CarFax report and hurt value.

Thank you all for the responses. I ended up having it towed to CBT. They are super nice and were pretty thorough at the initial inspection. Also, they were able to price match all of the replacement parts to OEM Toyota so at least I won't have to worry about that aspect of the repair. This is pretty much the exact reason I took it there. My insurance will only pay for OEM parts if the vehicle is 2yrs old or less. Else they will default to LKQ parts if they are cheaper. Total bill came to $4200, not including my time or frustration, lol.

That's great. As far as your pictures is anyone else noticing the front of that Chevy looks so bad compared to Mike's 4Runner? Also good he missed your rack ladder too!

I was commenting to the wife about how much damage the chebby took.
