Props for sharing the good bad and ugly. That's the type of info communities learn from. Wish others would share as candidly the realities of experiences and mods. :beer:
Very true! No one would want to see my passenger body mount that was moved back a few inches. In my mind, reusing the factory mount, just moved back, would be the best use of OEM engineering. It looks terrible. I think it’s structurally sound but the very capable welder/fabricator did his best with my request. The driver’s side was done by an equally qualified fabricator but I let him build the mount and it looks so much better. It is the only side I post photos of 😉
 
Thank you. I’m taking it to a proper Land Cruiser shop this time. They’re called OTM. They primarily work on LCs. No more pinching for pennies.
It doesn't require any specialization for "land cruisers" ... jus a decent welding outfit. I would probably just call a mobile welder. Make a few cardboard templates, trace onto metal, cut, weld, primer, paint. done.
 
Agreed that a Landcruiser shop is not necessarily a fabrication shop (although some are of course). I would ask the shop if they have done a mount chop before.
