Well, in the quest to fit 11.00R16 XLs I have decided to try out a 2" body lift. I am also installing new poly body mounts at the same time.

I am going to drop the rad and it appears my vaccumm, brake, fuel lines etc will be long enough to stretch.

My concern is the PTO shifter, which I am pretty sure I am screwed on and the auto linkage...

I was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions or helpful hints on lifting a 61/62 with the automatic....

thanks

Dude, generally Im not much for body lifts. I think a 1" is a good compromise. I probably wouldnt go beyond 2"

I agree. I am trying the 2" with the thought that if it is too big, I could cut it down.

I struggled with the thought of a body lift on my truck but when it came down to it, I think it is a good alternative to cutting fenders.

I tried my SOA with a set of belton 2.5" lift springs. It sat close to 5" higher then it does now and almost 8" higher then with old flat springs. I an now using the original springs I got with the truck and I like its ride hieght. The problem is the 38s rub and I don't want to lose ground clearance with my rock sliders. I also don't want to start hacking up the body.

My thoughts, do a body lift. This gives me access to the frame rails for the sliders, it will clear my tires, and it keeps my COG lower then a spring lift.....

I also generally dislike bodylifts, but I have a 1" on my mini and am really glad I did it. Besides the access for mounting sliders, it really makes things under the truck much easier to work on. I had a custom crossmember made (BudBuilt) that has 1" of lift in it, and I also raised my motor mounts, so as far as the drivetrain is concerned, it's back to the stock location WRT the body. I didn't have to mess with my radiator because of this. I just loosened the clamp on the steering shaft so it extended on the splines. No problems with the gas tank filler or brake/clutch lines. You will also have to deal with the bumpers, they're gonna look funny. Mine are custom made to match the lift.

Question: where are you finding a set of poly bushings for a 60/61/62 series body?

There is a guy that makes a poly kit for the 60 series but, of course, I lost it on my old computer. Might try posting up on POR, I think I found him there.

2" is comming real soon for me

I got them from this gentleman here:

body lift and poly bushings

My rear bumber is custom so modification to it will be easy...Not sure what to do about the ARB up front

Dude, Im not certain that there is anything you can do about that ARB. Not without sacrificing its integrety.

That's where I got mine. Good stuff. A body lift ain't so bad. Where else you gonna get that kind of lift for that kind of money. at 1" I didn't have to mod anything else. Over that and you may have to move the fan shroud.

Absolutely freakin' fabulous. I've been wanting to do this to my truck too. Thanks for the great info ...

Cahil
