Hey all,

Hoping someone might be able to provide some input here.

My front diff breather adapter keeps blowing the breather locking mechanism. The breather is a plastic elbow adapter that connects plastic hose to a fuel filter in the engine bay - same for front and rear diffs.

The first time I replaced the adapter I found it to weep oil (no blowout during this time) then I sealed the thread with plumbers tap for a tight seal, no weeping, but another blowout!! - only happens during water crossings....

Please help, replacing the oil is becoming costly!!!

Thanks.

Obviously the system is blocked somewhere...remove the axle fitting and make sure it is clear, blow air through or push something like wire or pipe cleaner past all components.
Diffs need to breathe, air in and air out.
If this persists try larger diameter fittings and hoses.

Is the hose too short, so that it gets pulled off when your suspension droops?

Or, do you have a really leaky air locker on that axle?

I had an issue like that too. I took off the fitting in the axle. Where the fitting threaded in was plugged with grease and gunk. Cleaned it and the rest of the system out and it has worked fine since.
