Any recommendation for a block heater for the 2LT engine?

Looking at the magnetic oil pan type for a friend but wanted to know if there is anything working well for those in the colder climates out west.

Thanks

Are you talking the 2LT (pre 1989) or the 2LT-II/2LTE (post 1989)? There is a block heater availble for the early one, but not the late one. I made the early one work in my late block, but it was a super PITA.

Late one, 91 2LT.

Either magnetic oil pan or radiator hose generic type is what I've looked at.

Not sure which would be better.

i use a second hand webasto, actuated by dash switch or text message via a gps locator. works great and has its own controls, heating stops when coolant temp reaches 70 deg.
only issues are: very sensitive to air in fuel line and bit noisey if you park it on a small street with grumpy neighbours...:)

Magnetic pan heater seems to be the easiest way to go.

Thanks all

I'm late to the party here but I live in a sub-arctic area and I have a 2LTE. Which block heater did you go with and how much of a PITA was it? I'm trying to get this beast ready for winter and any advice is appreciated.

Convection heater if you have electricity.
Webasto or Espar if off grid and you need reliability.
