I am bleeding power steering fluid(ATF) from the hard line that runs between the body of the truck and the frame....under the radiator. Looks like it has rusted through. Has anyone ever replaced one of these hoses? Any tricks of the trade I need to know about when replacing? Does anyone know where to find one of these lines? All of the local parts shops say they can't get them and Toyota says it will take two weeks and cost $586.00. Oh yeah, this is for my girlfriends FJ62

Install a universal cooler and bypass that piece of crap.....

Do you have any reccomendations on a brand of cooler?

Actually, the line that is leaking is the high pressure side. I don't think a PS cooler will work with the high side....only the low side.

I have the exact same issue with my 62. Not sure how to tackle it yet since it is second on my list of fixits. Let us know what you come up with. Check the Classified/Parting out section. Seems to be lots of 60/62s on the list. Girlfriend with a Landcruiser...that's cool.

cruiserparts.net appears to have used ones for $175. Dealer MSRP is $563 new. If you want new, contact cruiserdan for a good dealer price.

The part (position 44410) appears to be the the high pressure hoses and tube plus the low pressure return tube. I'm not sure if this is something you could have a hydraulic line shop fab up for you.

James @ cruiserparts.net presides in the rust belt, thus most of his s*** is pre-rusted before purchase..... besides the factory cooler is labor intensive to replace and ineffeciant to start with...

get a new line then......

I don't think the cooler is on the pressure side.... I would go buy an aftermarket cooler like a B&M or other brand. You can find many on the summit racing web site. Pressue hose runs from pump to sector... then out of sector over to cooler...back to resivor/pump. IS not the pressue side the long hose with the heat shield wrap that kind of curls back on itself?

maybe the hoses on the 62 are different. but on my 60 the hardline cooler did run under the radiator and it made a loop. Ok...maybe I see now.. PS pump on different side of the engine :)

NAPA or other store can make the rubber hoses... I would be tempted to have some long hoses made up and do away with the metal hard line & install a cooler like I initially suggested.

:whoops: 62...my bad....in the past I've had luck with the local industrial bearing supply store that makes hydraulic hoses fab a long hose and rerouted it to avoid going back under the core support......cost about 35 bux......

Well, we are going to replace line completely. My girl bought one from a local parts shop, cost $95.00.....obviously a non Toyota part, but I figure it is beter than buying a used one. I plan on tackling it this weekend, so we'll see how it goes.

Hey HJ-45Crewcab.....I got the new line installed today. What a fawking pain in the arse. If you plan on replacing the line, you'll have to remove the grill assembly, front valence, and blinkers. Undo the front body mounts and use a long 2x4 for leverage to lift the body just enough off of the frame so the fittings on the line will clear the body.
It took a lot twisting....turning.....manipulating and cussing, but eventually it worked itself in there. The trick is to get the passenger side in there most of the way first and then work the driver side.

No s***!! Thats why I used the alternative route and bypass the under core support install.........
