Im in the process of painting the vent covers on my 60 black. I'll be doing the grille and bumpers next. Ive already removed the gutter trim and the snake blinders. Does anyone have a good technique for painting the chrome door handles?

Thanks, Hodag

I don't mind the handles so much, but I thought the front end and vents needed to get the bling out!

I don't have any advice for the other parts, but good luck and post some pics when you are done.

I'm working on something for the door handles. If it works, I'll come back here and post pictures/details. Don't have the Cruiser with me so it will be a couple of months...

what kinda of paint did you use? i've wanted to black out my grills, but there are plastic.
hammer

someone suggested the cheap bedliner...used it on mine a few months ago and so far i'm happy. had rattle canned it before then, but got lots of rock chips.

didnt the chemicals in the bedliner affect the plastic?

I need a set of handles. Does anyone know what other models use them?

n my heep i used rattle can bedliner to black out everything. chrome and plastic.
had to sand the s*** out of the chrome. the plastic is where it took to best.
also had to remove pieces with chrome and coat the whole thing, otherwise whereever the line ended would peel. but it looked badass. just remove and coat every part of piece to be done.

i dont know if i would trust this on doorhandles or not. they get handled alot

All I did was the vents, grille (left the chrome on the "TOYOTA" though) and the mirrors. Makes a great improvement. I didn't worry about the bumpers since whatever I replace 'em with will be powdercoated black anyway.

sand blasted toyota logos, vents, and grill- as well as the 4WD logo on the tailgate. then used bumper black spray paint... it's been most of the winter and all summer, so far so good, I also removed the window chrome etc... should have factory wheels that are being powdercoated by next week. The dark side ain't so bad after all....philos
