I just changed the rear bearing and seal on the output shaft and reassembled the case. Now the case will not shift into high range. What could have moved that would prevent high range from engaging? When I look in the inspection cover I see the fork move toward the front of the vehicle but it appears to be rubbing on the small gear on the output shaft? Is it possible that the fork slipped off the gear shaft, and if so, can I get the fork back in place without splitting the case? The case I have does not have a separate front housing extension and it appears that you have to split the case on the vehicle as a couple of the bolts on the transmission housing extension are accessed from within the case itself. If I split the case on the vehicle will the shafts stay intact in the front half of the housing or is there a risk that I will end with a pile of stuff on the floor when I remove the rear half of the case? Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a link to a diagram of this case in the event I have to split it.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Gerry

Looks like I have the early split transfer case, and as far as I can tell the low/high speed shift fork is not moving the sliding ring (with the internal teeth)over the gear to the front to engage high speed.
