While installing my rad hose heater a couple weeks back I noticed the splash guards between the frame and body that hang in the wheel wells are gone. The plastic nipples that they hang on are still there and in good shape. This is contributing to serious road crap up into the engine bay. I have not been to a toyota dealer for any parts yet and am wondering if it is worth the time to try them or if there is a more knowedgable source for parts like this?

Thanks

same here....

i'm going to fab my own out of that office rubber/plastic carpet stuff that you get at canadian tire.

I second, just make your own out of rubber, that CND stuff is ok for that. Like GB says.

Thanks guys. I did figure that something like that was going to be my easiest option. Going to try and get something together today and just for fun will post some picks later.

For your information, 1 rubber slash guard at Toyota : ±80$

I’m curious, how important are these splash guards?

I think they are more important for a gasser as they keep water off the ignition components ,otherwise I just like to keep the engine bay crud free where possible.

They may have some affect of drawing more air through the radiator when moving.

If your old ones are more or less intact you could use them to make a pattern

more fan suction?

Yeah ,the more you block off the other points air can enter the engine, the more air should pass through the radiator.
Suction? ,more like a high and a low pressure system equalising itself;)

Interesting thread, i was having the same problem, i have an FJ 70, and didnt really wanna pay all the money for the splash guards, is there a pic or something to show me the dimentions and where to bolt the plastic on to the car?

thanks! ;)

I finally bought a rubber membrane for "garden decorative basin".
