Where did it go? I thought there was a devoted thread?

Thanks

Nope it never got done. Several folks said they would craft one up. Never did. Several folks volunteered to put together a list of all the top threads related to it. Nope, never did.

There are some great threads with part numbers, but very few with pics and none of them to my knowledge was ever complete. Hopefully it will get done at some point.

I gotta ask Woody to pull a FAQ list together for chat though :D

I started a decent thread. Do a search on "everything front axle" by me and you should find a good thread full of info.

Somebody should make a how-to video on front axle service, I would be more than willing to pay $50 to watch some one else do it first. I can do anything if I am able to see it done once.

I have a seepage on my driver side birfs and I will be doing the birfs soon. I may have to video it for you to see. When are you going to do yours?

I have the parts on ord from Dan, and they should be here by the weekend. I am thinking I will do it myself as I have a couple of weeks off from work. Right now I am sucking up all of the info I can about the process and it seams a bit complicated for a first timer.

It is not that hard. Do a lot of search, print them out and take them to your garage or work place where you will do the birf. There's a lot of site on how to tackle this job.

It's really not hard at all. Just very time consuming and messy. I think the only two things that are not straight forward is one, getting the inner oil seal out and a new one in without buggering it up. Second, getting the preload set properly on the wheel bearing. Other than that, it's pretty much take it apart and put it back together kind of thing.

Too bad the thread is not for the 80 series, but the procedure is about the same. I just did my Birfield repack 2 weeks ago and have a bunch of digital pictures if anyone is interested.

The entire process is not difficult, it is just VERY messy and labor intensive. It took me almost 2 days.

yup i was one of the volunteers who never wrote it up, but now I have gotten two posts padded out of it.

97 if you'd like, email me your pics (email is in my profile) and I'll gather up part #s etc. Then maybe we can con someone into doing a pretty good write up on it including preload etc.

Volunteers? C'mon, you know you'll be helping a lot of folks out.

zip,
that will help you with the races and possibly wiht the oil seal. not a bad tool to have in the box but not essential. I did one side without and one side with as I realized my buddy had a set in his tool box about 20 ft form me......

Hey Junk

I am writing this in hopes that it will be what you were hoping for in terms of part numbers.

I just recieved a box from the south west full of birf parts to include trunnion bearings.

So I fiured I would write down the numbers for you while the diff drains.

Please if I get something wrong, please correct it.

Great start, thanks. If we can keep this thread going, we can eventually keep the best parts and move the good bits into a FAQ, so folks, please post up as much as you can help.

Just a footnote so your local dealer does not look at this list and get all goofy.

so39, soo6 ETC are the bin locations that print off on my invoices.....

In addition, I have chosen to supply many of these items "al a carte" as opposed to the Toyota kit, 04434-60051, which costs more than the sum of it's parts.
