Hey Guys

Anyone running these have good or bad experiences?

I am talking about the billet bolt on ones, NOT the simple spacers that use the stock studs!

Any info is great

thanks

No input, but I plan on running the same ones.

Got mine from Motorsport Technology in Grand Terrace CA. Purchased so I could run FJ80 wheels on my 62. They will make custom spacers to your specs. I am very pleased with there products fit and finish. I ordered 1.25 inch spacers to clear the factory studs. No vibrations, wooble, or other feared results. Steering and ride actually improved (could be the new wheels and tires too). Hope this helps

hi i got mine from marlin crawler in fresno ca. bought them so i could clear larger 4runner calipers on my fj60 they seem to work fine so far, exellent fit and finish, althogh when ordering take into account that front axle is wider than rear's so you might want to order slightly wider rear spacers!
i ordered 1" all around and the front end sticks out slightly more than rear, kind of odd !

Good to hear that the Marlin ones are holding up thos are the exact ones i ordered! How long have you had yours? Do you ever catch them loosening? How often do you retorqued? Which caliper upgrade did you do?

Thanks

Thats a good point!!!

Do the 1" spacers even clear the stock studs? How does that work??

Freebornred? Is this an issue?

Thanks

I got mine from Rock Buggy Supply, but I'm sure they're pretty much the same things. Just make sure that they are on and torqued down correctly! I didn't get one of mine tightened on all the way and by the time I figured out that the vibration coming from the rear end was from one of my wheels wobbling around, I had broken three wheel studs off and mangled another! Killed the wheel spacer too. I don't run them anymore. I sold 'em off and got some new wheels with custom backspacing.

Lotsa guys runnin' 'em without any issues.

Any type of spacer is a way to avoid doing the job correctly. Evetually, any spacer will come back to kick your ass.

Marlin are said to be the best of a questionable lot.

they seem to be holding up well although i havnt had them on long, also they dont come with instructions but there very straight forward install just bolt on (make sure there centered) and torque like you would your lug nuts about 90lbs. oh and dont worry the unit is billet aluminum bot the wheel studs are steel! havnt caught them loosing but like i siad havnt had them long.

i did the 92 4runner 4x4 caliper upgrade you could find more info on this upgrade in the tech links sec. in this site, under disc brakes (dave tay 4runner caliper swap) worthy upgrade but only if your brakes need replacing or shot etc.

they sell up to 3" spacers and they clear fine, the spacers bolt over your stock wheel studs , and they come with new steel wheel studs pressed into them so stud length is never a issue with thes spacers!

btw what lenght did you oreder ? oh and i also notice they went down in price i spent like $99 a pair, i think there like $80 dollars a pair now?

i dont believe in not doing a job correctly especialy on thes pigs but my only options were either to shave the calipers with a grinder or the back of the wheels were they bolt on the hub neither a option or good idea in my book! yeah i could of bought wheels with different backspacing(99dollars a pair i could of got some steel wagonwheels) but im saving up 4 15x10 m.thompson classic II wheels and im running 31x10.5x15 wheels on 15x8 wheels wright now and as you may no you cant run 15x10's on 31x10.5x15 tires . so a 2.5" lift and some wheels and tires are my next upgrade and mayby if they clear the calipers ill remove the spacers, if not and there are no nuances from the spacers and they add to the look and function of the lift and new wheels i leave them on! :flipoff2:

I understand the issue. it is not the end of the world either way. I just hate to add another link into the system. You can grind the crap outta the calipers how far off were you?

I only ordered the 1" spacers. I only need them for caliper clearance!

Is that IFS hub swap any safer? Wouldnt that put mucho pressure on the bearings?

Wheel spacers are not only for caliper clearance. Some of us need them to avoid frame interference with our big, fatty tires.

I am trying to decide between the spacers and the IFS Hub swap.

Anyone know pros or cons of the IFS hub swap?

Thanks

I just did the IFS hub swap on my HJ61. It gave me about 1.25" added width on each side. It was a PITA but I like the system better for a couple of reasons.

It looks stock, and there does not appear to be a spacer on the rim. Because of the local law enforcment this is a big bonus for me. It also mimicks a factory toyota set up. This would tell me that the wheel bearings and hub would be designed to have the tire further out without many ill effects. And generally I think it is a marginally safer then a traditional bolt on spacer. I used lock tight on the bolts and if they do come loose, I lose a rotor, not my tire.

Over all I am very happy with the end result.

Oh, and I did it to gain a little more stability, it wasn't a tire or rim issue. I just needed the wider stance :D

Oh, and I know guys that use bolt on spacers on their IFS trucks, so I guess that would be an option if you wanted to go even wider then the IFS offset.......

what did you do in the rear of the pig to offset the add. width in the front, ive got 1"billet spacers all around and the front end sticks out more than raer just a little maybe about 1/4-1/2" :bounce: it looks kind of odd
i was thinking about selling the ones in the rear( since ive bolted them on they wont take them back ) and getting slightly larger ones to offset the front !

What was a PITA about it? Do you know of any websites with writeups or anything with all the parts needed? What else is needed besides the IFS hubs?? Do you use the IFS Lockouts or the FJ60 ones?

any info would be great

thanks

I went with a 1.5" bolt on spacer in the back. It is about even. I believe the front should be a little wider to improve tracking. I am going to a IFS hub in the back when I go to disk brakes in the rear.

As for the PITA factor, you have to take off the hubs, and the brakes and it just isn't as easy as removing a tire, bolting down the spacer and then putting the tire back on...plus it's one of those "While you're in there" kinda jobs. I replaced the rotors, all new bearings, seals, wheel studs etc...

All you need is the hub and the spacer kit. I bought mine from Sky Manufacturing. It comes with bolts, dowels, and new seals. Everything from your cruiser will fit on the IFS hub.

Does the Sky kit need to be pressed together with a press? What Exactly is needed from the IFS setup? Just the inner hub? Which lockout is used? The FJ or the IFS? The wheel bearings arent the same are they? I am bulding a front axle from scratch, so all parts going onto it are being aquired from scratch. (building axle while the current one is still being driven on!)

Thanks
Kevin
