Hi all! I've noticed that a number of you are running Die-Hard Platinums, but nobody in my searches lists what group they have. I know I could take whatever size Sears recommends, but in my 80 I went with a group 31 that worked out perfect and it was a number of sizes "too big".

All that to say, What are you running?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, but I'm 400 miles away from my Cruiser with no way to measure anything. We don't have a well stocked Sears at home and I was hoping to pick up the battery in the metropolis of Anchorage.

Mine is a group 34 and there is room in the battery tray for maybe another 3/4" in all dimensions.

I'm running the P2. At the time I bought it, to go larger, I would have had to get the deep cycle. The Deep cycle cost more and only has a 3 year warranty.

So that P2 fits in the stock battery tray correct?

TK

Length and width are fine, but spacer is needed because it is about 1" shorter than oem. I put a couple pieces of wood 2X4 under mine.

I put a group 31 marine battery in my stock tray; had to trim the little fins on the bottom sides about a 1/4" --tight, but it fits.

Wow! I never would have thought a group 31 would fit! Do you have any pics? How is it for height? (i.e. did you have to fab up a new way to tie down the battery?)

x2.

I put it in as my second battery in my dual setup. Got a tray from a 1fz cruiser and did a little trimming. Used a section of angle alum with the j-hook bolts to hold it down. Trimmed a little of the fender(1/4" at the edge where the bolt down flange is) for the hold down to fit the width.

I'm using a yellow Optima group 31 as a second battery on the driver's side. The tray is one from the stainless steel guy with a hold down designed for the group 31. It's all bolt-in, no mods needed. Same thing should work for the regular battery spot.

Not at the moment but I'll try to snap some tomorrow. I don't have a tie down yet; was actually planning to get some stainless trays but just haven't felt like forking out the cash yet(that battery was enough!).

Group 27 fits really well.

The Sears website says that the P2 is a group 34 battery, and it's available for gift wrap :)

It appears to me that the P-2 is a group 65 (according to the Sears Website).

On the Odyssey site, it looks like the group 65 packs the most juice (without going with the marine).

Others say the P-2 fits, so it would definitely be the one that I would go with.

Another......P-2 Group 65 Platinum in my fj62, stainless tray with some wood spacers for height.

It's a close fit especially with the Tangen light harness relays on the fender there, but it fits and nothing rubs.

I'm torn on whether to go with the P2 or the P1. The 1150cca is swaying me to the P1 and just figure out a way to tie it down. (I had no idea a battery that big would come close to fitting in a stock 60 tray)

I'll be buying one or the other today and installing it this weekend. I'll post pics on this thread.

The P1 is 880 cca. the P2 is 930 cca, if your speaking of the PM1? that is a deep cycle and has a 3 year warranty. the p1/p2 batteries carry 4 year 100% replacement, then another 6 years of prorated(plus the first 4).

I've had batteries die at 3 months, 2 years, 3 years and 5~6 years. So for me warranty is an issue. This is why I choose the P2.;) And the sale price of $179. did not hurt.
