Many of you have purchased the DVD I made to provide time saving tips and the confidence to replace your own head gasket over the years. The notoriety has gone beyond Mud as well and it is fun to communicate with a variety of 80 owners around the world. I recently returned from a long vacation to find a small backlog of orders and while getting these latest ready to ship I realized that I have wanted to thank you folks for a long time.

Interestingly, it is not so much that I want to thank you guys for buying them, but it is the WAY you have bought them over the years - the neat little gifts, notes and emails - that I want to express thanks for. Almost every Mud buyer has included a nice little note of greeting, or comment of some sort. Many of you have sent me long emails of your successful experiences changing out the head gasket with new tips, and a surprising number of you have intentionally sent more money than the price as a thank you for putting the thing together. Simply amazing, no?? I have also spoken with a number of you by phone who had either a lapse of confidence while getting underway or a specific question and it has been very cool meeting a good number of you this way. And in a return of the "karma-esque" nature of this project I have sent a lot before getting payment to help out some needing it quickly that paid by check, etc. And I've never been pimped.

So, a huge thank you and just a little note to make sure you all know this is a fun project on my end as well as a neat way to meet.

A small pile awaits shipping in the morning - right here next to my computer serving as the reminder I have wanted to say this to you for a while......

Regards,

DougM

When I buy an FZJ80, I'll be sure to hit you up for a HG DVD. You've definitely done the forum members a great service with it.

Just re-watched my copy the other day in preparation of my new to me 80 hg as a pm this time. I forgot how much good stuff was in that little cardboard envelope.

Doug,

Your generous nature to compile such a tip-loaded-time-saving-video says volumes about you as a person! I am able to move forward with confidence on this project thanks to you! Again thanks for taking the time to make such a great video!

Doug -

Thanks...my DVD has yet to be used...but, it will when I get back to the States.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought this is another Christmas/New Year :cheers:give away like the other vendors:D. I almost said " I'm in" . Well, maybe not, probably next time.:grinpimp:

You don't have to be here on the 80-series-tech forum for very long to know two important things in life: the 80 series is the greatest truck ever made and, secondly, as soon as you buy one you need to order the FSM and Doug's head gasket video.

Doug,
A big thanks to you for your foresight and initiative in putting your HG DVD together several years ago. I have one that has been loaned to a few club members to help them with their projects.

I hear you just need to see one of them DVDs and it's a sure thing your HG will go within a month...

I don't want to even read about them... :D

(nice job, Doug!)

No thank you doug for a great DVD to save us a ton of money by doing projects ourselves and learning just how wonderfull it is to complete a job at home and feeling proud to own such a amazing machine! :)

Waiting patiently for my DVD to arrive!

Doug,

Although I haven't seen it yet, I knew I had to have it when I read all of the mud reviewers giving it :flipoff2:. (That's even better than 2 thumbs up.)

Thank you for taking the time to put the DVD together and giving more than just moral support to those of us who chose to undertake this task ourselves.

Thanks Doug!!! Almost got all my parts to do the job. More importantly, I've almost got your whole DVD memorized!

Did you pay him royalities(sp)? :hillbilly:

Oops. :o

I better edit my post. I didn't make copies and sell them on eBay and CraigsList so maybe he will go easy on me about the royalties. :flipoff2:

Thanks for the helpful DVD... I dont even own an LC yet, but when I do, I'm sure I will be buying this! I've heard about the head gasket issues and already was dreading it, but just now heard about this video and already gave me a bit of confidence!

Thank you Doug! I got one from you a couple years ago, now. Thank goodness I haven't had to use it yet (knock on wood). Now I am not scared of the job, when it is, inevitably, needed.

Thanks' Doug. I have the DVD for future reference. I plan to keep the LC for another dozen years so the DVD will likely come in handy some day.
