If somebody is looking for a pristine 80 to drive and use, that one's a great option. But it's not locked, and it's not a CE or 40th, so it'll never be a "collectible." IMO

Seller did an exemplary job of posting photos.

Also, the seller is very likely skipping the Title. Caveat emptor.

Nice one. If the car fax and history checks out it is probably worth every penny of low to mid 20's price point. Wish is was a black chrome package 96. That would be uber rare. Someone must have slipped that away from an unsuspecting elderly owner or estate for a fraction of this bid. There are a few out there like this and they are worth the money. Good luck with the sale.

Bet you he bought it for $5-10k and is just flipping it.
If it was locked he'd have a lot easier time selling it for big bucks as dumb as that is.
Curious to see what it sells for.

The listing has met Reserve, currently at $23,175.

Miles and condition help it a ton. Color and K292 hurt.

Should pull in the range of $30K.

That still seems insane to me. Really curious to see what it finishes out at.
I have a locked, rust free, 96 with 94k on it and i couldn't imagine getting 25k for it even if i tried. I can never tell what actually happens in this market anymore. Seems like some crazy clean low mileage ones go for 15k, then some beat to s*** locked rig sells for 20?

The 80 market is pretty rational, IMO. Sure, there are some outliers, but sales prices follow a pretty decent pattern.

Low miles, locked and rust free is where it's at. Deferred maintenance can be remedied with more $$.

I wouldn't sell my locked, rust-free '93 with 90K miles for $25K. I'm in it for more than that., and I know there are fewer and fewer of them as each day passes. And my CE isn't going anywhere, either.

not only there is fewer and fewer but prices r going up , two months ago i went to baja california made just over 6000 miles and i witnessed only one 80 series land cruiser on the road

That was listed on cars.com from the original owner for 14k

Someone is making a nice quick profit

Notice the bolts are painted on the undercarriage , looks like the whole underneath got spray paint job

$27K... Not seeing it. I like low mileage as much as the next guy, but c'mon. The underneath was spray painted. What is that hiding? IDK, I guess it's worth it to somebody.

Look at the stats... 400+ watchers, 22 bidders, 50+ bids.

There are a lot of people following this listing.

The rattle canning of the underside is such a cheese-dick flipper move, but it comes with the territory. The skipped Title is a non-starter for me.

Just wait til the first couple of super-clean FZJ80s hit BaT. That's when the hype train will really get rolling.

Sold with a high bid of $42,350

81 bids from 25 bidders.

Seems to be a major premium on rigs with under 75,000 original miles. Something I still don't understand. A Toyota with 75k on the clock and one with 150k on the clock should have similar useful life yet the one with 75K might demand a $15,000-$20,000 premium. A sucker is born every day.

overal, the Land Cruiser market doesn't seem that strong when compared to tacomas and tundras. Land cruisers, with much much lower production numbers and much higher MSRPs seem to be listed at or near similar spec'd tundras and tacomas.

The market is irrationally rational! :)
