OK my current set is a 30 HP Ingersol Rand and a 25 IR used as a back up. I already have the air dryer and 200 gal storage tank. My 30 is on the way out waiting to grenade at any time is has 66,000 hours on it.
My question is should I look into another brand I am looking in the 50HP range. This is for my shop that uses a lot of air 24/6

Kaizer or Boge screw type.

Generally, a lot of air = screw-type...like obscene cfm ratings are obtainable. Do you have 3-phase avail in the shop and so you have an idea of your projected cfm requirements? I had my eye on Eaton compressors a few years ago as they were being made in USA and priced okay.

I have a nice 25hp/96cfm/230V/3ph Gardner Denver rotary screw compressor that needs a new home...

But for a shop that uses lots of air a rotary screw is the way to go vs. piston compressors. I've worked in places that used G-D, Joy, and Sullair rotary screw machines and all of them worked well.

Thanks but I need a 50HP unit and will keep my current 25HP as a back-up.

Lots of good info on here I am just waiting for all my pricing to come in.
To me PM is also a big factor since I will outsource that portion and it is not cheap.

Look at Gardner Denver

Well my IR just died

What a POS 66k hrs and the main bearing is gone.
I can say this over an 8 year period I spent twice as much on PM than what I paid for the unit when new.
Eaton looks to be the winner on this one. The PM cost and warranty were the biggest factors.
If anyone needs compressor compassion cost data I have it for four manufactures.
IR will give you a 5 year warranty if you spend more than the cost of the unit in PM over the 5 years.

I am shocked what the operating cost over a 10 year period from one unit to the next the high and low were 35k difference.
