I am thinking about moving up from 31 to 33 inch tires.

I have narrowed it down to BFG All-Terrains or Mud Terrains.

Which would be better? I like the looks of the mud terrain, but have a feeling the all-terrains will better suit my needs.

Has anyone had direct experience with both tires on their rigs?

Sorry for the boring tire thread  . But I want to make the best decision.

Man those 31's you bought aren't that old...what are you going to do with those?

I'm hoping to transfer them to my wifes exploder or sell them. They only have a few thousand miles on them.

I just made the wrong move and bought 31s instead of 33s in first place  .

Join the club bro....i love my 33's big time now. Can cruiser so much faster at the same or lower RPM's.

You going 33 x 10.5 or 9.5?

Why not the destinations?

It's a kick ass tire.

I've had 2 sets of Mud terrains and they cup real easy, so you would need to rotate them about every 3k miles to avoid this. After 4 or 5 sets of AT's, I've had no problems. Thing is, I like the looks of the Muds a lot better.

I had the ATs on my old pickup and loved them. I like the MTs on the 100, but they're pretty noisy on the street and I actually think they were definitley not very good in the snow. I felt the stock Michelin LTXs were much better. In hindsight, I wish I had gone with the ATs.

Looks like you live in a state that has mud trails.

I'd take function over looks.

Mudders

I've got the BFG AT KO 33/10 and love them! Handle great and IMHO just fit the truck.
Mine is a daily driver - the the AT/ko made the most sence. I too would of loved the look of the mud, but wanted a better road tire.

I ran the 33x9.5 ATs on my cruiser, stock wheels etc etc. I loved the gearing hated the tires. Sidewalls were really soft so when the truck got off camber they rolled A LOT. it drove great on the road and awsome in the snow. I think if you got a wider version you really wont notice that much of a drop in gas milage and it'd be worth it for the stability (at least I assume they'd be more stable).

i have 33x12.5 BFG M/Ts and so far i love em. They do make a little more noise on road, but its not bad at all. Off road they are an excellent tire. From past experience in anything more than moderate mud, A/Ts are worthless, but that are a better road tire. depend on your needs. My 60 btw is 100% my daily driver.

I had 33 AT's on my 4Runner and I loved them. Excellent tires and surprisingly quiet. A friend of mine has some 32 MT's on his Ford Ranger right now and you really have to speak up while you are on the freeway.

The MT's look sweet though but I had excellent luck with my AT's.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think I'm leaning toward the ATs b/c they have less noise, better wear, and better on road handling.

and more size options, 33muds only come in the 12.50 flavor, from what i recall.

Nope. 33x10.5 MT's on my rig

i have the 33x10.5s on my truck and they are a great road tire and are "fine" in the dry dirt. however, i have yet to have them perform well when it gets muddy or even slightly wet out:

i was stuck on this hill... not deep mud by anymeans, just slick:

here you can see it pretty packed with dirt and it was "dry" out:

and M/Ts are awful, just plain awful in the snow. especially packed snow or ice.

Considering I'll be driving in the ice and snow, more than mud, I should prolly go ATs then. Damn I really like the MT look ;) .
definately A/Ts then.

A/T over M/T for sure. I agree that the M/T look is way cooler but just go to BFG's website and do their comparison. The A/T's rate higher in every aspect (snow, wet traction, wear, noise, etc.) except for mud. I have run both over the years and found no benefit from the mudders. I have no complaints on the A/T's.l
