Hi

Just wondering if anyone knows if the 80 series brake calipers bolt on or not or if any better ones do.

Thanks

No they dont, late HZJ75 calipers are as good as it gets. Everything else in good working order? I am about to upgrade mine to new QFM pads with a flash compound. Big difference in changing to a 80 series booster and making sure the rear brakes are working properly.

80 series brake caliper doesn't fit on 75. Larger caliper for 80 series. I have attempted several times trying to fit but no hope.

The 4 bolt 80 series dual diaphragm booster fits my 1985 hj75 cruiser. The shaft needed a 1 inch extension and it would only fit after it was turned upside down compared to how it was mounted on the 80 series.

Why 2 bolts, I thougt you need 4 bolts ? And what/howmuch do I need to extend ?

If you use the 2 bolt booster, you can re use your original master cylinder. Just pull it forward, replace the booster, and bolt back into place. No need to disconnect the brake lines and bleed. ( just to be clear, 2 bolt refers to where the m/c bolts to, not where it bolts to the firewall.) From recollection, the extension was about 30mm

Seems I'll be on the look out for a two bolt brake booster then. Just did my rear brakes and my fronts a couple years ago. Even after changing my M/C I still feel there's room for improvement

On my other HZJ75, I got the brakes to the point where they worked well. I put new quality pads and discs all round and got a friend to help me bleed them. They were as good as a 2 ton vehicle would ever be.
I got them to the same standard on my FJ73.
