Where is the best place to mount a rack. I was thinking the roof behind the sunroof where the light is, but don't want to give up the light. I have been looking to see if there is a above the visor option anyone has done. I have the rear cargo boxes so this is just for riding on the ranch, not long distance transport but I would still like to keep it out of sight if I can. Any ideas would help. Can the ceiling hold it? And looking to mount a Blaser R93 with scope and for pig hunting a M1A with a EOTECH and a 20 round mag for size reference.

Not sure if there is really room for overhead storage in the 100. I think most of the shelf systems use the mirror mount holes as anchor points so going anywhere else would be a bit more work.

Have you considered the back of the seat slings ?

Put a brace going across the top mounted from the secondary grab handles in the 2nd row and mount the gun rack to that. Should be more then stable if you do that.

Has anyone done what Loud is suggesting in the third row? The grab handles aren't parallel back there. I want to hook up the big sky rack back there for an AR15 and a Shotgun or axe.

I know expedition overland is using a similar locking version in their Tacoma.

Why hang your guns out in the open? I always keep mine hidden in the truck when I'm carrying them.

I agree with pistons. Gun racks went the way of the dinosaur because of theft. I'd build a rack that sat lower in the back by the gate, but that's about it.

The FJ guys have a good option: http://www.springtailsolutions.com/shop/fj-cruiser/ar15-style-scabbard-combo/

Could probably get that to work on the hundy, but might want a top loading sleeve?

That'd be cool on the side. I seems like the best option is to store it in a locking drawer but that'd eat up most of your drawer space.

There are locking attachments for versions of the Big Sky Rack I posted above. But I guess someone might still break your window to find out it's locked.

I built a false raised floor which works great. Cost me about $5 for plywood and a 2x4.

I carry mine on me at all times. In fact I did a little night shooting tonight after the moon rise (central Oregon fires making for cool colors).

For long guns, 870 behind the 2nd row in front of drawers. RH drawers gets the long range boom stick along side the AR, 10/22, model 94 and various bags.

However I have a great idea that I've been working on for long guns in sift cases that keeps then out of the open along with other soft gear.

My shorter rifle case fits nicely behind my 3rd row seats with other gear. I lay a surplus wool blanket over the whole area. Tough to see anything with plain ol' factory mirror (bleh) tint.

FYI....you can get over 270 guns (long and short)in the rear of a 100 series :D

had to bring them back from the WA State Patrol a few years ago......glad I didnt get car jacked

but, I have a rack that I mounted to hold an AR upright at the rear door on the same side as the fridge.

Upright is a good idea. Shorter folks might not be able to reach it along the roof.
