Hammer that sucker straight.....its the crossmember...what kind of actual bumper or bumperettes are you going to use on it?

i dont have the ome tire carrier,so my best bet should be any type of swing type, maybe man a fre or buy one here on mud,the 40 have ambi doors. I can hammer the bumper to straight enough, but what about the rust bracket ? any place to buy it new or used ? Donations welcome....

I threw some away a few months ago that i would have given you if you had paid shipping!! If you can wait and time others builds just right I am certain someone here would hook you up cheap........... If yours arent to bad you might be able to pop the rivets as you mentioned, remove them, wire wheel them, por and done. If not you might think of maybe ospho or something more liquidy that you could use in a spray bottle just for that particular spot to get in between the two a little better than you will be able to get the por? I dont recommend using the ospho on the rest if you are going to POR it though.......

thanks for all the inf. as i found more trouble on my resto,i will post more request here..we got to love MUD...gracias

I ground off the rivets, removed the rusted areas on the braces, and welded in new metal. Two coats of Rust Bullet and reinstalled with Grade 8 bolts. I also welded in new metal in the center of the rear frame member to beef it up for towing. It also got the Rust Bullet treatment.

Pop the rivets and take them to a local machine shop, you can prob get them made dirt cheap. Unless you want exact replicas.
