Hey everyone, I just picked up a 2000 LX470 today and I'm anxious to get to work on it and get rid of the soccer mom look! First up, wheels, tires and a bumper! Does anyone know where I can pick up a good deal on a ARB bumper (I'll probably go with the Sahara)? It seems like everyone just publishes retail but I'm sure there must be someone to email or a coupon code or something ;)! Thanks!

I see you are in Bellingham. ARB is in Kent, wa. I bought a scratch and dent second from them for my 80 series and picked it up for $500. Pretty much 1/2 off and no freight. Worth a shot. The only damage to the one I got was a small scuff in the powder coat. If they have one you could probably pick it up and have it painted to match for less than retail.

Or by a Dissent from Benc cuz they are rad, each a little different and the rest of the world doesn't already have one.

Since you are looking at the ARB Sahara and you have an LX, I thought I would mention that there is a lip on the front body fender of the Lexus LX which doesn't exist on the Toyota LC. This makes the fit a bit awkward. I have made the Sahara work on my set up (with a 3/4 inch, undesirable gap), but if I was in your position, I would consider alternatives that fit better...like a Slee bumper or one of the many alternatives. Just my 2 cents!

We were able to tweak that lip on my brother's LX and got a very snug fit on the Sahara. Unfortunately, that snug fit equates to the grill scraping the hoop when opening/closing the hood.

ARB has many great products, but as mentioned above, there are many options for our rigs so keep an open mind instead of an open wallet! ;)
Also, ARB's have a tendency to be quite heavy and if you're adding a winch with wire cable, you'll be needing a serious suspension upgrade.

Suggestion: figure out want you want out of your rig. Some of the options are:
1) Mall cruiser: Lift it and stick the biggest tires that will fit.
2) Light trail and daily driver: No lift or very lift with all terrain tires and a little armor.
3) Expedition and maybe daily driver: More lift, more aggressive tires and more armor.
4) Rock crawling, lucky to pass DOT:rolleyes:: See Slee's yellow bus photos on his website! http://www.sleeoffroad.com/trails/Holly_Cross_2003/dscn1184.jpg
4) And anything in between!

The 100 is a extremely versatile vehicle that one can go as mild to as wild as the budget allows.
Have fun and be safe! AND most importantly DON'T forget about your wife :princess:!!! Make sure she's on board with what you do! It makes a build a whole lot easier and fun.

Oh definitely yes on the last paragraph

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. My rig will be used for light trail/daily driver/road trip adventure rig. My offroad use will be to access some mountain bike trails and surf spots, mostly down old washed out logging roads. A little extra armor and clearance should do me fine. I probably don't need anything super burly and I probably won't end up buying a winch for it. I just want the extra clearance. Does anyone make a relatively light aftermarket bumper? No one seems to publish weights.

e stock suspension to run it without the winch.
If your looking for extra clearance, mine has the most clearance from any other production bumper on the market.

Better yet, buy mine, so that I can buy a new one from Benc :P

Another vote for BenC s bumper. Without the winch installed, a small adjustment to the torsion bars were all that was necessary, a few twists with a 37mm socket.

Front approach is sweet. I have a far better aproach now with the Dissent bumper while suspension is on Low than I did with the stock bumper and the suspension on high. (Not that I'd take any trail in low mode.)
