Go with stock. I change my timing belt and water pump every 90,000 miles and it's never failed me after 330,000 miles.

I am sure that this is a stupid question, but I just want to double-check. I am starting to gather parts for my upcoming timing belt service. Is everything that the AISIN TKT-021 kit comes with (belt, water pump, tensioners, idler, etc.) the same as Toyota OEM?
AISIN TKT-021 is a good kit. the water pump is different compared with OEM all the other parts are the same. you can see little bit difference of water fan assembly to OEM one whose surface treatment is better.

However the AISIN FBT-002 Fan Pulley Bracket sold by amazon is really bad. nothing like OEM and even worst than some chinese knock-off. buy the OEM fan Pulley if you can.

They are the exact same thing. Aisin = Toyota.

What in the world are you talking about???

Yotashop is a great oem supplier also there kit is 230 I just replaced on my tundra 2uz.

This world. I bought both of them 3 month ago.

and unfortunately, AISIN is not totally equal to toyota OEM.

to be fair, some OEM parts you can buy from toyota, they are not totally the same as they are assembled in factory.

You mean this new Aisin fan bracket I have with “TOYODA” etched out is not OEM? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sounds like you bought counterfeit/fake Aisin parts.

No. not all aisin parts have toyota label on it.

To be simplified, toyota OEM parts made from Aisin generally is better than Aisin retail parts as you pay more. if they have toyota label on it you can assume they are the same. if not there is a reason for that.

That statement is demonstrably false. You're paying more to have "TOYODA" stamped on it plus a dealer/distributor markup fee. That's it.

You do understand that AISIN was created by Toyota Motor Corporation (specifically, Kiichiro Toyoda, who also founded Toyota Motor Corporation) and is majority owned to this day by Toyota?

What about Denso, Advics, etc.? You think if I buy a Denso spark plug from say NAPA that it's poorer quality than the same Denso spark plug bought from a Toyota dealer, solely because the latter comes in a Toyota box???

is that really hard to understand? Aisin makes toyota parts, but not all the parts Aisin made is the same as they supply as OEM parts to toyota. Aisin is a standalone company. if market needs, they can provide whatever part with reasonable price tag. Do you know how many supplier Aisin has? Are they all in Japan?
the same thing to denso, spark plug wise, yes they are the same. cabin air filter? No they are not the same esp. for LC100 or LX470. Sorry it is the truth if it hurts.

another thing you can think about. If indeed Aisin sell only OEM parts, they can just say "every matching part we sell is the same OEM parts we supply to toyota", which will be huge selling point for this brand. Why they didn't do that? are they too shy to say so? are their marketing department dumb?

They do.

Same relationship as AC Delco and GM. There's no quality difference.

Just FYI, I just had that done on my LX470 by the Lexus dealer and they recommend the AISIAN kit. They had it in one day.

Not going to argue that. I used Aisin parts all the time and overall aisin parts is good enough and maybe easier/quicker to get.

However each time I would compare with Aisin and OEM parts before installation. A lot of times I can see there is slightly differences between them esp. there is no toyota label on it or grind off. usually they are not on critical location but the difference is there.

Yeah not trying to cause more issues but I think you may be pixel peeping (in photography terms) a little too much.

Aisin = Toyota = Aisin
Denso = Very close to Toyota.

Just because a part is labeled Aisin or Toyota and even has what appears to be a holographic sticker on it does not mean is OEM. Amazon can not be trusted to not be a knockoff. I've gotten knock off Mercedes and Toyota parts, the box was an exact copy and the part looked good, but it was fake. I have seen fake watches, they are EXACT externally, and even if you open them up the internal parts are nearly identical and the manufactures name is properly engraved INSIDE. They come in an original looking box with a certificate that is an EXACT copy.

I would buy from CruiserOutfitters or the dealer for timing belt parts.

You don't want to do the job more often than you have to.

Agree. There are waaaaay too many premature water pump failures on the "Aisin" timing belt kits. I would never replace a water pump on a 4.7L without walking out of the dealership with it in my own hands.

If you don't trust Scamazon, Aisin's kit is active on Rockauto.

Toyota's, or any other OE's for that matter, Tier 1 vendors are made to remove the OE's branding before selling service parts. This is done for various reasons. The same tooling is generally used, it's just that the quality standards are slightly different for service parts than they are for those meant for new assembly. That does not mean they are bad, it just means they aren't up to the requirements meant to support new car quality and related warranty metrics. Dealer service parts keep the branding, supplier parts don't.
