Since I've got to replace my water pump, I figure I should go ahead and replace the timing belt while I'm in there, so I was wondering who makes the best kit and where to buy it. I have heard that the Aisin kit is the best, but rock auto is sold out and the one listed on amazon says it won't deliver for 3-4 weeks. Thanks!

almost certain parts are available from Toyota

changing anything else?
fan bracket
hoses
T's
serpentine belt
crank seal
cam seals

I have bought a few kits from a seller on Ebay that goes by aircabinman.

I went through RockAuto for my most recent timing belt parts. I had a kit for my neighbors 100 at the house and compared them and can say the good news is that Amazon stuff he bought (AISIN) was the same as what came from RockAuto - with the exception of the fan pulley bracket. His was counterfeit and mine was legit.

AISIN on Amazon isn't currently participating in Amazon's transparency program; but if they do go forward with that it would increase my confidence in those parts a lot.

I bought my last Aisin kit from rockauto and it had a bad tensioner. The return process was a pain. Next time it will be from Amazon.

I piecemealed my timing belt/water pump parts with OEM components from www.partsouq.com and a few other web stores. Probably not the cheapest, but pretty close for OEM parts.

That said, Cruiser Outfitters would be my go-to.

For my baseline when I bought my truck I bought this kit. It was 400 when I bought it in 2015 but inflation happens.

I picked up the parts cuz the dude Is in Costa Mesa (near me) and his store is legit nothing but jdm parts all the way to his fluids he sells.

Here is the smaller kit for just the timing belt kit

I now only buy most of my parts from him for my cruiser and my getaway car (2000 Acura TL)

Why not just call your local Toyota parts department, if there is one nearby you

only use aisin or toyota timing belts and water pumps. but it's your rig. i've seen aftermarket brands fail very early. you can pay a little more now or a lot more later.
i've also seen aftermarket garbage labeled as OEM. don't be fooled. go with the good stuff.

I got my ASIAN kit from Amazon. They hiked the price by 20%. But I digress.

Agreed. The Sequoia I played around with last year was puking coolant from the water pump. I tore it down and sure enough it had a Gates belt and aftermarket pump. Cheap parts aren't cheap when you're doing the job twice.

I am sure that this is a stupid question, but I just want to double-check. I am starting to gather parts for my upcoming timing belt service. Is everything that the AISIN TKT-021 kit comes with (belt, water pump, tensioners, idler, etc.) the same as Toyota OEM?

Yes, but you don't have to pay the $$$ mark-up for having "TOYODA" stamped on everything.
