My last oil change I did by myself thank you very much! :)

It cost me right at $60 for:

Mobil 1 synthetic extended (15k) life oil - 7 quarts
Mobil 1 M1-209 filter

My question to you guys, (1) If you change your own oil, can you get this stuff somewhere cheaper? (2) Have you found a place that does oil changes with this oil and filter for anything close to this price?

I get my Mobil 1 5w30 synthetic at Costco on sale for $27 for 6 quarts (~$4.50per/qt) and Toyota filters (~$5). So, approximately $40 per oil change.

I haven't come across to many shops that would do any oil change for that price, but then again I rarely look.

Wally World for Mobil 1 synthetic, ~ $23/5 qts.

I won't lie, the dealer does mine for $50, full synthetic. I normally enjoy doing it myself, but the cost is almost a wash this way.

Also, if you do want to DIY, Walmart almost always has the cheapest oil. Filters, buy a case of Toyota OEM from one of the vendors here. They are reasonable...usually under $5 each. I use to purchase bulk Baldwin filters for under $3 but haven't done that in a while.

M1 synthetic 5 quart bottle at WalMart. Mobil One have rebates every so often so I stocked up when they have rebates.

Filter - Purolator Pure One or M1. Lately I have bought filters at Meijer. They are on sale every so often, and I can get them at around $3-$5 IIRC.

It's been awhile, but you can sometimes find a case of M1 for $20. I get my filter from Amazon and probably overpay.

Oil - Wally World M1 EP 5 qt. jug(s)
Filter - O'Reilly's M1 (Wally World in my area doesn't carry a good selection)

Motorcraft 910S filter $5.00
Rotella T oil $30.00 (for 2 gallons)

So....including tax $38.00 (and I have a little oil left over for topping off between changes if needed).

I buy mine from Walmart and get the $24 rebate twice a year from Mobil1. Basically buy one get one free.

I'm gonna try from Advanced Auto this next time with a 40% off coupon to see if I can get it even cheaper :)

Amazon.com has the best price on Pennzoil synthetic which is what I use.

From all the studies I've seen Pennzoil, in my opinion, gives best bang for buck and is widely available. Walmart has a decent price as well.

If no rebates or coupons available, Amazon and walmart are usually very close in price but with prime, I never have to set foot inside walmart which makes it sooo worth it. Plus you can buy your filter at the same time and not have to go to another store to get a better filter than whats in stock at walmart. Win win.

I always roll with OEM filters
