So I'm thinking maybe I should go ahead and re-gear. Right now I think 4.56 will be fine with 33" tires and sets me up if I choose to go to 35" tires.

Who has the best price on gears and is there any brands I should look for specifically? Also I've seen talk about using a solid spacer, would one be best used when new gears are installed?

Ben

I can't imagine regearing for 33s and for 35s definitely jump to 4.88s. The gears aren't what is so expensive it is the setup and other things you do while setting them up.

I have been thinking about re-gearing myself since I got 33's. I have read the forums and listen to you all say it is not necessary. I just really don't like the power loss from the stock size to 33's. I have a plan to add ARB air lockers and I plan to get some "trail rims" with 35's on them. I like to think of myself as a "Do it once, Do it right" kinda person.

What would the ride with 4.88's on 33" tires be like?

Are you going to run 33s on the street and 35s on the trail or are you going to two sets of 35s? I would gear my rig for the street. If you are doing ARBs that is the time to regear.

I got my gears for Ben at Slee. Sent all parts needed to do the swap(bearings, gaskets etc)
Cheers,

I just got my 33's, so I will be running them for a while on the street/slight off-road. I would like to later pickup the 35's as trail tires.

I tend to agree that I should gear for the street, but sooner or later it will be lifted/locked and 35's all around.

I need lockable diff's, so I need to buy lockers, if I am going to do the lockers, I may as well do the gears too.
