best or ideal spot to mount the spare tire on m416 trailer

I have a 1/4 ton post WWll Bantam, it had 6.00x16 military tires on it when I got it and it had this bracket on it to hold the spare tire. no idea if it is a bracket that was available from Bantam or something the PO pieced together. I have since changed to 7.00x16 military tires and the spare fits nicely in the same spot. the upright rod mounts to the front panel of the trailer and the bottom is secured to the bottom angle piece of the trailer.

Looks like you have a Bantam civilian market trailer. I see what looks like a 1-7/8" ball hitch, stake pocket, appears to be only three tie downs per side. If it is a Bantam civilian trailer it should lack the parking brake and brake drums, and have a factory tailgate with either angle iron or sheetmetal supports on the rear corners of the trailer. Also, civilian trailers have no drain hole plugs in the bed floor.

my tires are 285/75/16 but down the road i might go down to 265/75/16.

I like the swing-away on the blue trailer. Any close-ups of the pivot mount?
