I'd love to hear your experience with Les Schwab tires on your 40. I'm going to replace the tires on the 40 when I pick it up and being on the west coast, I'm going to use Les Schwab. I've had trouble using other places in the past because of locations (tire blew on a trip and no American Tire Co nearby). I'd like to stay in the $150 range and get something that works for mild off road use but will handle city use as the truck will see mostly paved roads. Let me know your experience! Thanks!

I had an awesome time with LES schwab. great service I even was able to finance them before the moab trip. I went with the toyo mud terrains and they are awesome and very quiet on road and digg great off

Maybe not the best . . .

$150 per is not going to get you their best, but it's probably almost enough to get you their worst--which isn't too bad really. When I was tire shopping the Federal MS351 A/T was the most affordable option coming in around $700 I think. I lucked out and found an almost brand new set on a parts '40 and just swapped them over. My truck was used as a DD (and will be again soon) and I love the road manners of these tires. Drove them daily for a year and a half and you can hardly tell they've been used. They have a 31x10.5 option that looks well proportioned, but it is a little small by most standards. Might be an option for you. If I were to buy tires right now, I would go for the BFG KM2 33x10.5x15s at Costco.

Tires needed balance:

Les Schwab - 1 1/2 hours later... Sorry sir, your tires are shaped like eggs, we cant do anything for you. No charge.

Amaricas Tire - 1 hour later... Sir, 3 of your tires are great. However one is out of round. We placed the max amount of weights to try and compensate. Come out and we'll show it to you on the machine. cost, $40.

I once took a truck in to Les Schwab because I could not remove three lug nuts--I was ruining tools trying. The owner of the shop spent 1/2 hour helping me during which time he broke an impact socket and sheared the 1/2" drive on his impact wrench in half. Finally got them to break loose. No charge.

Walmart ( I dont shop there, but you cant beat there auto dept labor prices :)) mount and balance 33 x10.50 KM2 Muds for 10 bucks each. I also make them install my headlight bulbs (mazda CX-7)(which are a complete PITA to do) for 10 bucks for the pair.

This time however I am going with discount tire (americas tire) and getting 5 of the 33 x 10.50 x 15 BFG KM2 Muds mounted and balanced, with stems etc for 1100 out the door. Not bad...

I guess I am spoiled. I have used and continue to Use the Cooper STT. I run them in 33x10.50x15.. Local tire shop cuts me an awesome deal of mounted, balanced and road hazard for $785.00 out the door after 8.75% sales tax. i use these tires in the Mud and snow. Not good rock tires. they do not deform enough for me. i have even been known to drive them with 10 psi and not know they are that low. But I am weird that way. Anyone else use the Cooper's on their 40?

33x10.5x15 $827.96 without install at Costco. They can't/won't put them on stock steelies.

They look even better in person. :)

Will they put them on aftermarket wheels that are wider than stock steelies? Anyone have any experience?

I can't find Cooper STTs in 33X10.50X15s, not even on their site. Maybe they don't make them any more?
