yes.

Nice. I did some snow wheeling on CU Campus last night haha. Basically just drove up the piles of snow in the parking lot at 10pm......not sure what all them cool kids were looking at, it's normal to drive up piles of snow right?

Yes, yes it is. :-)

I just got back from CO last week, you guys sure have some pretty country to wheel in over there. Saw a few 60's and 40's about - some stock & some not so stock. I had limited time/opportunity, but got a couple of photo's from Breckenridge. These were driving right past the house we were in when I had the camera out...

My rental for 1.5 days - 570 miles on it when I picked it up.
Rental Person: "I've got you a nice Hyundai Santa Fe"
Me: "Umm, sorry but do you have something, I dunno, less girly??"
Rental Person: "I've only got F150's in that bracket"
Me: "I'll take a silver one....."

Nice Tundra in a carpark in Loveland... Makes my mate here look small when he only comes up to the wing mirror...

The past two days I did the knuckle service and stuff.

Not really anything big there, but being the guy I am: I powdercoated all the parts before putting them back together. All the parts except the backing plate, that is, because the next time I need brakes it'll get 4 runner calipers, and therefor trimmed backing plate--and it will get powder coated then.

It is really, really nice to be able to pretty much hose parts off to get the grease off... Next time I'll be able to.

Just because you're dying to know what new studs, and powdercoated knuckle hardware look like...

I did learn that the PO was someone I don't hate. Much recent maintenance, most of it done pretty well. Heck, only one side even had birf soup!

How'd I miss out on this thread until now? Congrats on selling-out, erm, getting hitched. Now as for the familial addiction to Toyota 4x4's, well, we all know that "mud is within the 12-step program, right next to working at a dealership or associated shop.

Heading back to the top to read through all the post info, get it done. Maybe even consider harassing skinner to finish his build while using that thread for motivation and reference.

:D Again, congrats man, not necessarily on the rig but you and Kate selling out.. I'm looking forward to seeing how the build goes. FWIW as far as the door rot consider giving MudRak a call and see if he still has a couple of doors laying around that I saw a while back.

The Overton's

p.s. Shot ya a pm.

I got your PM, you've got a reply.

I already snagged pristine front doors for it. Funny thing was, I was at the junkyard and snagged them, and was noticing how many "pertinent" parts had been taken off of the two FJ-62s there. Literally every part missing from those two could be accounted for by friends of mine. Bad Mojo was telling me about how nice the doors on one of them were when he was up at the shop, and I was able to reply: "nope, the blue one doesn't have front doors anymore, they're leaning against the 40 as we speak."

My wife has also given me the go-ahead if I find a screaming deal on a 1HZ for Guzzler. Not real sure what kind of a deal I'd need before I'd pull the trigger, but....

The doors are part of a bigger project for it though, and I'm hoping to play with them later this month or something, but that's dependent upon the 40. The tub is off for paint, and it's pretty much my only truck priority at the moment, to get it back on the road for CM11.

Got the reply, great snag on those doors. :D

I'll see about getting you a cartoony sketchup of an old whisky bottle with the "XXX" on it with the words "Guzzler" above to place either on the rear side windows or just above the filler neck door. :hillbilly:

:D Here, try this on for size, it's based on an open source background, it's rendered as a full page, so shrink it down to 25-30% sizing so it'll show better once printed out..

Well, still hating the mileage with a passion, but there's really only one fix for that, and I'm "working on it." Other than that, I really, really like the 60.

I haven't done a whole lot, but I did get tired of the silly carpeted fabric/cardboard panels in it. So, a couple sheets of 1/8" ABS plastic, a little bit of cutting, drilling, and....

At some point I'll probably add speakers to these, but for now, I'm pretty happy. I also put some second skin inside the panels behind there, and some on the panels I made. Makes a big difference in quieting it down. I just snapped the tailgate panel down, and the noise it makes drove me nuts on the way home, so I'll probably add a little foam between it and the tailgate or something.

Tomorrow I'm hoping to tackle the rear door panels and the back of the rear seat.

Looks good man. Let me know how that ABS holds up.

I also made the door panels out of ABS for the rear doors. Best pics I have of them. I can easily add a pocket, or speaker or something towards the bottom in the future, but for now, it'll just match the back of the truck...

I'm digging the ABS, I may have to do that for The Mule.
Great thread!

FWIW, I'm selling this 60 now. Time for someone else to enjoy it. iH8MUD classified ad

Need to make room for a *very special* 40, and soon enough I'll finish the other 60 anyway. Plus, I've got to slowly sell or move a TON of stuff from NM to CO.
