Im trying to save the carpet in my 97. Ive looked at the Husky mats and they just seem to be made cheaper than they used to be. The material looks more like plastic than heavy rubber. I want something molded thats gonna look good as well as be functional. Any suggestions. I know some in here have mats from Target (Kraco mats) and like them but my local target does not have these. Maybe mats from Cabellas? Also want a rear cargo area mat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the mats from Costco in my 80. These are heavy duty softish rubber. The nice thing is that they are very deep and can hold a lot of water or mud (they claim 2 quarts or so). Not sized or trimmed specifically to the LC of course, but fits OK. Comes in gray or tan. $20 for 2 big front ones and 2 small rears.

In the 100 we have some Toy OEM rubber mats. Looks better but not as deep so could make more of a mess with serious mud or water. Much more $ ($80 from memory?).

I have a set of the Husky mats. Got mine several years ago though, so I can't speak to the quality of the stuff that's out today.

It's made of a thick plasticy-rubber compound. I don't think they were ever very pliable.

The Huskys work very well for me -- especially the one for the 2nd row. Can't tell you how many times it's saved my carpet from juice, soda, milk, etc. spills.

The new husky mats seem kind of thin... I had them in my old truck and they seemed nicer than the ones now, thicker and more rubbery...maybe its just my mind playing tricks on me

I bought the Huskys for my 94 Truck when it was new......They are good but have too much plastic and not enough rubber IMO.....Haven't really seen anything that much better though, so I did buy the rear cargo ones for both of the 4Runners I had since......

A friend of mine bought a used truck bed mat (built like a tire, very heavy) and cut it to fit the cargo area.....turned out nice and things wouldn't slide!)

Mats

I will have to side with the Costco mats, not only are they very cheap in comparison to others, the amount of rubber in them is significantly more. I was in the snow twice last weekend and did not have any problems overflowing, that is the mat being somewhat oversized made it easy to barely pull it out the door and drain it.

I dont really like the heavy duty plastic. I find that they get in the way a lot at least they did when i had a z71. They would flap over the gas and then i would be freaking out cause i thought my brakes went. haha.

Huskies do the trick .

Only complaint is that when cold the driver side mat gets a wee stiff . They still catch the slush though . Not too big a deal ..... warmer temps and I love 'em .

The WeatherTech mats are great - very thick and heavy, as well as pliable. They hold a lot of water, but the floor of the 80 Series slopes outward and back toward the sill, so you end up with a puddle at that corner and an overflow if you don't empty the mat regularly in wet or snowy weather. No way could one of my front mats hold as much water as they claim....

The DS mat needs to be notched out to clear the dead pedal - and the rear mats have to be trimmed to clear the seat mounts. Otherwise, a good prduct. I leave them in year round to catch both water and sand.

You can order direct from WeatherTech for about the same price you would pay at other online vendors.

Thanks for the input....i looked at the weathertech mats and im glad John posted up that info...if I have to trim them like that I would rather just buy some really cheap ones and trim them....If im going to spend $50 per row of seats I want something custom fit that I dont have to hack up

Husky liners are what works best, IMHO. Got 'em on my UZJ-100 and HDJ-80, as well as the Hilux... getting another one for the FZJ-80.
It's most useful 'coz I have three growing kids (ages from 1.5 to 7) and they always make a mess :D

I like Husky Liners. I had WeatherTech when I had my 4Runner and they were good but in my opinion, the Husky Liners are the way to go. When I got my 80 it had Husky's in Tan and I wanted black so I 'sold' them to someone and then lost the check like a dumbass so he got ahelluva deal. I am too embarrassed to ask to redo the check although he seems super cool so he would probably work it for me but the point to all this is that i did indeed notice a slightly more stout material in my old tan liners than i see in my new black liners. They seem to be thinner and stiffer so something must have happened. Still, they are totally a customized fit for the rig and they work well. HTH.

just got huskies, I like the custom fit andc the stuff they hold, not only water but sand and dirt. no trimming needed on a 96 with the third row removed, a bit expensive especially for all three rows, if you spend a lot of time with the second row flipped foreward then skip the cargo one and use bulk liner material (search for shower liner) as the huskie cargo liner only goes to the back of the middle row with it down

the rear one has started to move arround on me a bit lately, I do have a lot of stuff back there right now,

best price I found was at http://www.accessconnect.com/huskyflr.htm, I have used them before, no complaints, no idea on cust service as I have not had to contact them.

I have Exact Mats over the factory mats in the 80 and my minivan. It doesn't "hold" any snow (Don't need to here in Texas), but protects the carpet and cleans up with ease. It's great protection against the toddler that likes to toss food and drinks!

toyota-parts.com at the time I bought them i was not onthis forum and didn't know C-Dan you might want to check with him since they are OEM, you might get them even cheaper.

I'm going to suggest to Junk or reffug that they put this thread in the FAQ...

These are the ones I want but just called...only available for a 98 or up. Factory all weather mats are only available for a 98 or up as well....the Highland molded mats 98 and up as well...Catchall mats are for 98 and up only as well.....Looks like the only choice is trimming to fit a pair of Weather Tech mats as suggested by John or Husky mats...I wish they made the Husky carpeted for a 97 land cruiser..DOH
