Hey, I know that this isnt the forum Im supposed to be in LOL but I need your guys cleaning tips,
So I just Bought a FJ62 but the Previous owner was a smoker, I have gotten the smoke smell to go away but there is like a film on all the windows, and nothing I have tried will remove it no cleaner,

I have not tried Bom-ami yet but I will today, I know some of you must have had this problem, ( I tried taking a pic but the haxe will not photo well, also I can whipe it with my finger and smudge the film aswell.)

Yep, www.carcareonline.com. I have followed their recommendatations for several years now and have yet to be disappointed. They sell all major brands (not zaino of course) and will recommend what to use in certain applications. If the guy says it's his favorite, it always works well. He'll sell you whatever you want, though.

IIRC, his business started after he participated in lots of concour competitions for Porsches. These are basically car beauty pagents. After a lots of field testing and success, he started selling products and giving advise.

I think he is now tied in to Amazon.com and is a vendor for them.

My favorite polish is the 3M Hand Glaze followed by One Grand Blitz Wax. Both easy to use, great results and long lasting. Vinylex for interior and exterior plastic and rubber. Various Maquiars products in use too. Invisible Glass for..... the glass.

Smoky residue removal on glass

SS_storm, try using isoproply rubbing alcohol on your glass with CLEAN WHITE terry cloth rags. Had a friend (good riddance to) who I let use my 85' toy truck and mucked up the inside with his cigarette smoke. I also used it on the paint behind the seat and buffed it out RIGHT after I wiped it down with the alcohol, no damage to the paint either.

Ditto on Zymol. Good stuff, both the wash and wax products. learned the hard way not to let the wax dry completely before buffing it off.

Go to Autogeek.com (as well as Autopia, etc) and read all the how-to's and watch the videos and you'll learn how to make your cars shine like you never thought possible. That's what I did, then I bought a Porter Cable random orbital polisher and some choice products and went to work. The R/O machine is very forgiving and foolproof (hey I said I did it, lol) and gives very good results. Just pick the right strength polish/polishes for the job (I like Menzerna and Meguiars brands) and then a good sealant wax that will buy you MONTHS of protection and shine instead of weeks. I like Pinnacle Liquid Souveran for ease of application (I use the PC) and removal, which creates an incredible shine. The LC I bought a few weeks ago in really bad shape paint wise now looks like a brand new car - unless you look VERY closely. It's amazing what something as small as treating the rubber trim around the glass does for the appearance. Your eye expects to see faded rubber on anything but a new car and so blackening it with something like Forever Black, or Optimum Tire and Rubber trim treatment really makes the polished paint stand out.

If your LC is a DD, or if like me you're gonna take it and park it at the beach every day baking in the hot sun and salt air, keeping it waxed/sealed and UV protected will really make it last.


If you want something simple and easy it's hard to beat Klasse AIO (all in one). Just wipe it on and wipe it off. No drying, no buffing. It's got a mild chemical cleaner in it and wax with an acrylic sealant.

I find that SprayWay glass cleaner works best and I use it exclusively on all my cars, but probably the strongest glass cleaner is a 50-50 mix of 91% strength rubbing alcohol and ammonia. You can clean BUMPERS with that!

I've used a razor blade and any spray foaming glass cleaner for cigarette smoke. Also 000 steel wool and glass cleaner works too.

For the smell, a house I bought had a smoking room in it. Yuck. Aired out for weeks and shampood carpets several times, painted walls and ceiling, cleaned glass, but smoke smell remained, until i used an 'environmental air sponge' and the smell was gone in two days. No affiliation, yada yada.

+1 for using a clay bar on paint. Never knew what I was missing until the day I tried one. Buddy showed me that the bucket of soapy wash water can be used for wetting the clay bar.
